Hello all

I am set on Fawn as a first name for my first baby girl, does anyone have any middle name suggestions?

I like everything natural and botanical but as Fawn is already a little unusual I don't want anything too unconventional for the middle name.

I also like retro and classic style names

The only combo I have right now is Fawn Ava

I really like this but has already been Eva's and Ava's around us last few years.

Also like

Fawn Adele - partner doesn't like
Fawn Bluebell - too hippy?
Fawn Honey - unsure
Fawn Evelyn - good
Fawn Adeline - too unusual
Fawn Lily-Rose - good
Fawn Florence
Fawn Felicity
Fawn Poppy
Fawn Opal
Fawn Tigerlilly
Fawn Delilah
Fawn Rosalie
Fawn Laurel - too masc?
Fawn Autumn - know a baby Autumn already

Keen to use a variation of lily if poss

I know a lot of the above don't flow well just giving examples of the style I like

Please help xx

Be careful: Fawn sounds like phone. It could sound like Phone Adele etc

thethoughtfox · 07/11/2017 18:11

I agree with a PP that Fawn works beautifully as a middle name but it doesn't work with any of the names mentioned.

Faun Aster
Faun Rowan

I think it needs to be a similar nature name. I'm not struck on it though. Although it'll be a cute newborn, I can't imagine a 80 year old Faun.

She will spend her life repeating her name when people go “Fern?” at her. But I do actually like it, can’t think of a middle name that I like with it though, so I’d probably not bother and just have first name, surname (my father, mother and grandmother all managed without middle names).

victoire1208 · 07/11/2017 18:16

^Fawn!

May50 · 07/11/2017 18:19

Fawn Miranda sprung to mind, but I really like the Fawn Evelyn suggestion.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/11/2017 18:28

Fawn Maya

You don’t really need a middle name. If you can’t find anything you really love to go with Fawn then just leave it at Fawn. I don’t see the need for a middle name unless you are going to use it on a regular basis. I see a middle name as a place to use a name that might mean something to you but you didn’t like it enough to use as a first name. Eg, my son’s middle name is after my husband’s father who passed away many years ago. I didn’t want it as a first name. If we’d had a girl then there wouldn’t have been a middle name. That’s just my very humble opinion. I know most people have a middle name.

This is the problem with the Faun(e) spelling (AFAIAC);

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faun

Hebenon · 07/11/2017 18:40

Fawn Evelyn is the best IMO. But Fawn really does work well as a middle name with lots of the names mentioned here. The one name that absolutely doesn't work is Fawn Lily- Rose.

Battleax · 07/11/2017 18:41

FWIW, OP I really like Fawn.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/11/2017 19:25

Fawn Rochelle
Fawn Elise
Fawn Greta
Fawn Luna
Fawn Marissa
Fawn Willow

HoratioNightboy · 07/11/2017 19:40

I think PP's suggestions of Fawn Rowan and Fawn Willow sound lovely!

Fawn Meadow
Fawn Raven
Fawn Lilias

They do sound a bit "coloured" though - like you, fawn was the word
we used until taupe came along. It's no worse than Scarlett however.

icantgetnosleep5 · 07/11/2017 19:41

what about Flora ? or Cedar ? Rosa ?
i know three different dogs named fawn! :-s

icantgetnosleep5 · 07/11/2017 19:51

i think fawn is pretty cute for a little girl, i just cant imagine a woman at work , in a professional capacity being called it/ reading it on a C.V.. it's a bit like a babyish nickname rather than an Actual name (imo)
sauna is the immediate place my brain springs to when i read fauna sorry!
As a middle name i think it wud b a nice acknowledgment to your love of nature, but i wdnt want to b named after a deer personally

Ukfirsttimemum · 07/11/2017 20:18

Thanks so much everyone, really helpful to hear how it sounds to everyone else's ears. I don't mind the mythology connection at all I think it's interesting but I can see how that could be problematic for a young girl. Prefer the fauna flora imagery. For professional life I would like to have another more conventional name such as Evelyn that can be used if preferred but I think in 25 years Fawn will not be that unusual compared to many others of her generation. I agree it's a good name for a pet too! Thanks again all.

Based on this thread I'm leaning towards Evelyn Fawn McH... going by Fawn

Juliet
Alexandra
Mirabelle
Arabella
Seraphina
Lucinda

helpmum2003 · 07/11/2017 20:58

I prefer Fawn as the middle name as it flows better with many of the pretty names suggested.
Speaking as someone who is known by their middle name I wouldn't knowingly call someone a first name expecting they might/would use their middle name instead. It causes problems with banks and other things requiring identity these days.

MikeUniformMike · 07/11/2017 21:09

Faune is wrong sorry. Fawn or Faun is ok apart from to fawn is not a pleasant thought.
I would avoid a colour middle name. Rose/Amber/Scarlett/Blue.
Could you use it as a pet name for something else - Fiona maybe?

ifigoup · 07/11/2017 21:15

Fawn Elise
Fawn Ellora
Fawn Onora
Fawn Matilda
Fawn Pandora
Fawn Anaïs

PashPash · 07/11/2017 21:17

Any Le Carre fan is going to think of Fawn, the violent and slightly unhinged ‘babysitter’ ( Codename for bodyguard/minder in the novels)

For that reason I think of it as masculine name.

Nice though, and really doesn’t need a middle name.

Mightybanhammer · 07/11/2017 21:30

Flora, or Fleur would flow well I think as a middle name.

Mightybanhammer · 07/11/2017 21:31

Flora Fauna Mc**?

Valeriemalorie · 07/11/2017 21:35

Don't let anyone put you off, it sounds like you really like the name. I can see it working on an adult. (I can imagine a newsreader called Fawn McH for instance!) I really like it and don't think people will think too much about it once they have heard it a few times. Would you regret it if you didn't use it? I think its lovely x.

Fawn Evelyn - go for it!
