Looking for a really unusual girls name!

I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my second daughter and found my first's name by scrolling through this forum. Hers is very unusual but has a meaning and is not too much of a mouthful. We're looking for similar with this one. By very unusual I mean a name that's never shown up on the baby name chart which records any name that has been used more than 3 times in a year. It's a tall order I know!

We have Australian and Italian roots and surname ends in -ia so that rules out most -a or -ia ending names for us.
Nice nicknames are also a must.

As an example of what I like my all time fave name is Camira. It's Australian Aboriginal but unfortunately is the name of a shit Australian car so has been completely vetoed by OH.
Would love some help!

Eirene
Jhaleh (the one I know pronounces it like the word 'jolie' in French as if with an American accent).
Lyra - name of a constellation

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/10/2017 06:28

Aleydis - she was a Belgian saint. Think it is a Flemish version of Alice.

What about Danika? It means morning star in danish.

Or Jarrah, May after May Gibbs, Acacia, Fern, Coral?

I quite like Clancy for a girl though I think most people use it as a boys name.

LurkyMcLurcker · 28/10/2017 07:37

I knew a horse called Zelnova - nn Zee.

Fits the star/Z requirement but pos too unusual for a child.

Buglife · 28/10/2017 09:11

Bathsheba. If I had the balls to do it... I always loved it after reading Far From the Madding Crowd. Of course Bathsheba sounds much better if you have a surname as lovely as Everdene like in the book. It's biblical in origin of course.

Freddiewinifred10 · 28/10/2017 09:24

I am not sure of the spellings of these, but I have know people called them and always thought they were lovely names. Lorena(was Swiss) or Keranina.

Seti · 28/10/2017 09:25

I bet there aren’t many Mildred’s born recently.

Doubletrouble42 · 28/10/2017 09:39

If you like z names what about Zennor? It's a lovely little place in Cornwall and as a child I met one girl named after there. Never met any others.

Doubletrouble42 · 28/10/2017 09:43

Also used to have a neighbour ( older lady) called Zennet and everyone called her zen.

hollyisalovelyname · 28/10/2017 09:55

Gobnait.
My least favourite name in the world.
An Irish saint's name

Elbi · 28/10/2017 10:38

Don't know if anyone has suggested this but I search by meaning on www.babynamespedia.com Tends to throw up some names that are really unusual (here at least). You can also search by ending, letters in the name etc

northdownmummy · 28/10/2017 10:52

I once worked with a woman called Zillah, always thought it was a lovely unusual name

chicarubia · 28/10/2017 17:11

I really like Nova - though unfortunately that is the name of another shit car according to OH!
Jarrah is cool though we know a little aussie boy called that. Holly, I have to say I'm not crazy about Gobnait, makes me think of Gobshite!
Linoleum, some very interesting ones there!
We quite like Lyrian which is similar to Lyra but a bit more unusual. Does anyone have an opinion on that? There're a few in Oz but never heard of any here.
Elbi I'll have a look at that website now!
Annabel thank you- I'll make sure I come back and post once she's born. Our 2 year old loves the name Zalie and refuses to accept she could be called anything else so we are definitely moving towards it!
Thanks again for all the input!

Kiri? I believe it's a Maori name.

chicarubia · 28/10/2017 17:32

Theducks, that makes sense because of Kiri de Kanawa. I quite like Kiri

You and just about everyone else who hears the name Smile
Also gobs, and nits.

How about Xochitl? Pronounced So-chee though some sound the TL sound at the end. It is a Nahuatl/Mexican name meaning flower.

I like Lyrian.

Elbi · 29/10/2017 18:49

If you like Nova I always quite liked Auva, which is a constellation. Or Neoma which I think is new moon in Greek.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 30/10/2017 17:14

Carina
Nerissa
Bronte
Dolce

(the last 2 are 2 Australian sisters I know of)

KarineAimee · 30/10/2017 20:20

On one of the links to star names in a previous post the name Yildiz came up. I met someone named Yildiz years ago and thought it was a beautiful name, didn't realise it means Star - this will be going on my list if a DD2 ever happens!

misstiggywinkle21 · 17/06/2018 13:36

I know of a Carmiya. Only ever heard of it once and I think its just a beautiful name.
