Rowan or Kit?

For a boy.

We are down to these two (more or less).

Kit would be Christopher on the bc, but we would introduce him to everyone as Kit until he is old enough to say whether he wants to use a different shortening / full name / completely unrelated nickname.

Other options are Samuel and Lewis. Middle name could be any of these names, or else Wilfred (family name).

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/09/2017 15:45

Just Kit nice and simple good solid name.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 26/09/2017 15:45

DH won't have Kit on bc.

That's fine. Use kit as nick name

Chaffinch4 · 26/09/2017 15:49

Rowan Wilfred sounds wonderful.

RideSallyRide · 26/09/2017 15:49

Second option of your four choices.

ChocOrange3 · 26/09/2017 15:51

Definitely Kit. Not meaning to offend anyone but I think it's a much stronger name than Rowan. I like short strong names (hence all 3 of mine have 4 letter names)

RiaOverTheRainbow · 26/09/2017 15:51

I like both names a lot, I think Kit is my favourite (just).

Ploppie4 · 26/09/2017 15:51

Christoph is great

Dustbunny1900 · 26/09/2017 15:58

Kit! Kit kit kit, I love it.
Rowan is more hippy unisex and the other names are v popular.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/09/2017 15:59

Kit

Kit.
Rowan is a girls name.
Rowan Atkinson has a girls name.

YellowYak · 26/09/2017 16:37

No it's not, it's much more commonly used as a boys name

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowan_(name)

I like both names, both are on my list

Marcipex · 26/09/2017 17:25

It's a girls name, lately used for boys too. The opposite of Evelyn and Hilary I suppose.
It's a little flowering tree. Not very macho.

Bobbybobbins · 26/09/2017 17:28

Christopher (Kit) Rowan

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/09/2017 17:30

Kit

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 26/09/2017 17:34

Most Rowans I know are boys. I'm Irish, so could use the Irish spelling (definitely a boy's name).

YellowYak · 26/09/2017 17:37

It's not particularly little and it's better known for having red berries.

The concept of macho is very very unappealing to me. I guess that's why Rowan appeals. Although I think Rowan is very strong sounding name

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 26/09/2017 17:38

Also, if he is anything like DH, DD and me, he will not be macho (looking at least)! We're all tall, blonde, pale and small framed.

Christopher Samuel Sirname

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/09/2017 17:45

Both are nice but I prefer Rowan

daisypond · 26/09/2017 18:04

I do prefer Rohan to Rowan for a boy - if Rohan is the spelling you were thinking of. The Mr Bean association is too strong for me, so it puts me off Rowan. But I Iike Christopher/Kit much more.
