Favourite spelling of the name Beau

Just found out we are having a girl, our favourite name is Beau but I am stuck on the spelling as since Beau has become more popular as I know a few boys called Beau and that spelling feels more like a boys name to me.

I really like Bo but husband hates the fact that when she spells it, she will have to say B O as in 'I have bad BO'. Do get his point to be fair.

Then there is Bow but to me that just looks like an object rather than a name.

Which do you think is best?

@MiniAlphaBravo ah thank you for all your help, your opinion really means a lot. If only I could be as intelligent as you and @ProfessorCat I am sure I would be soooo happy. If only I could think just like you, but never mind thank you again, consider me educated. I am so glad you guys were around to save me from my low IQ.

Oh, no, Adalind, you misunderstand the thrust of my post. I was saying that the fact that the word exists as a noun in English which refers to males was an additional reason not to use it. My post was in response to someone's comment that lots of things had different meanings in other languages eg Pippa meaning blow job in (possibly) Greek, and so I was pointing out that it's not just that the word means something masculine in another language, it also means something masculine in English.

Beau is a boys' name, which in and of itself isn't a reason not to give it to a girl. You can call your child whatever you like - there are no rules.

However Beau isn't just a boys' name, it's inherently male, and as you can see, people will judge you for it (it will just be done silently in real life, unlike on here).

You could always go with Bo as a nickname for something like, say, Beatrice/Beatrix. I don't think Bo is a good stand alone option at all, but it's not my choice.

My little sister is "Boh" however it is an abbreviation of Bohdhana (which nobody has ever called her ever)

Additionally... I have what is typically a "boys name" - always getting told they've never met a girl called it but I love my name Smile

Beau can be used for a girl. The little girl from Pet Semetary her real name is Beau

Beau can be used for a girl just like Thomas or peter can be used for girls if you insist - it's pretty dumb though

I think Boe is if anything worse. The Face of Boe on Doctor Who was a pretty big old ugly male face.

As per pps, Belle! Beau is a boys name and a hideous one at that - sorry!

Your husband is right - Bo in the uk is awful...

I think some miss the point. It isn;t just that it is a boys name, it isn't even just that the word is masculine, it is that the word actually means a male thing in French, it means boyfriend or male admirer.
Add all three together and you have just about the worst name for a girl possible.

None. No spelling of it whatsoever. Beau is a male name, and Bo is...well...Body Odour. All awful options.

OP - would you consider Bea instead?
Short for Beatrice or Beatrix

My DD best friend is a Bo. She's 13. Personally I wouldn't use that spelling myself, but she's never had any comments about it.
