Scottishish names...

I'm pregnant with DC2. We're team yellow and have a good list of boys' names. DD is Flora and i am struggling to find a girls' name I like as much.

I'd like a Scottish link but have discounted Isla, Iona, Eilidh, Ailsa, Fiona, Mairi, Mhairi for either being overused in our area or friends using them.

I need a name with two or more syllables as we have a short surname. I don't mind names that can be shortened. Help!

Sorry just seen you don't want B names - ignore Bonnie (although it's my favourite!)

daisypond · 16/09/2017 19:04

Margaret?

CondimentQueen · 16/09/2017 19:06

Lorna is a bit 80s for me too. I knew a lot of Lornas at school!

I have a family member named Margaret (who doesn't Wink) and I couldn't bring myself to name a child after her!

LivinTheHighLife · 16/09/2017 19:13

Hetty is a name I come across in Scotland more.

So is Wilma, but I am not so keen and it makes me think Flintstone!

BewareOfTheToddler · 16/09/2017 19:14

Elspeth! Great name and goes well with Flora. Ishbel is great too.

soupmaker · 16/09/2017 19:16

Annie

I do love Flora, and if I'd had a third DD would have had one. Her big sisters would have included Annie.

AhYaBastart · 16/09/2017 19:17

Sorcha? Scottish but not very common. I know one toddler called Sorcha, that’s it.

OlennasWimple · 16/09/2017 19:17

Isobel isn't an old lady name down in England - there are loads of them (and Isabella variants)!

Ailsa
Alana
Annis
Isla
Sorcha
Una

OlennasWimple · 16/09/2017 19:17

x-post! Smile

mintbiscuit · 16/09/2017 19:19

Sorcha - i know a lovely Sorcha! (although ending probably too close to Flora)

Annis

Is there a female version of Lachlan (I love this name)?

mintbiscuit · 16/09/2017 19:20

Ha OlennasWimple - great minds!

Cheerfullygo4 · 16/09/2017 19:29

Sorcha. Means brightness in Scottish Gaelic. Can be pronounced Sor-a-cha or Sorsha. Family name, she loves it and it suits her a lot.

auntym · 16/09/2017 19:31

Margo

ItsNachoCheese · 16/09/2017 19:33

Saoirse was my name if ds had been a girl

CondimentQueen · 16/09/2017 19:46

I'm beginning to think I'm not a huge fan of Scottish girls' names GrinBlush

I could easily name quintuplet boys with lovely strong Scottish names!
