Could you give me a quick guesstimate on how popular Clara is?

I really like

Clara
Margot
Martha

However - thought Margot and Martha may be making a comeback, but what about Clara?

My other two DC have similar style names - not too kitsch (in my opinion), not too popular, and not too 'nana'.

Any other names gladly received! Thank you

It's cute, I like it. I wouldn't use it as I like long names but it would make me smile if a baby was introduced to me as Clara.

3 kids, 5, 3 and 3m, so have a bit of experience of current baby names. Haven't met a baby Clara or Margo. Loads of Marthas round here though.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/09/2017 19:06

Don't know any Clara's or Martha's or
How about Emma, Laura, of Maisie.

Nightmanagerfan · 01/09/2017 19:07

I love it. I only know one Clara

Notanothernamechangeaddict · 01/09/2017 19:09

Like Clara
Like Martha
Dislike Margot

I know one martha, no Clara's or margots

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 01/09/2017 19:12

91 acc to one site with UK top 100 girls' names 2017. Tardis not so much of an effect then!

endehors · 01/09/2017 19:15

It was 91 in 2015. It's risen year on year. I predict higher when the 2016 stats are released.

Take a look, from the ONS stats here:

names.darkgreener.com/#clara

harrietm87 · 01/09/2017 19:16

I know 2 baby Claras and have seen it mentioned loads on here.
Expecting it to have risen lots in popularity as pp said.

harrietm87 · 01/09/2017 19:16

How about claire/clare instead?

Mammadragon · 01/09/2017 19:17

I know 3 Claras, 1 Martha (all 1 and under) and no Margots

Batteriesallgone · 01/09/2017 19:20

Margot is a bit of a marmite name. I know a friend said she had it on her list and some loved it some gave her loads of shit for it. She went for something less 'controversial' in the end

pinkhorse · 01/09/2017 19:23

That's the name I would have given to ds if he was a girl. It's beautiful. My friend just had a girl and named her Clara but she's the only one I know

DCFlemingreportingforduty · 01/09/2017 19:26

I have lots of friends with baby/ toddler Claras.

DCFlemingreportingforduty · 01/09/2017 19:26

(Margot is fab!)

FloatingCamel · 01/09/2017 19:27

I know 3. Only one baby Claire though.

SerfTerf · 01/09/2017 19:28

Clara and Margot are fabulous names. That is all Grin

soundsystem · 01/09/2017 19:28

I LOVE Clara. It does seem to be making a bit of a comeback, though. I know of quite a few under 18 months, and none between 18 months and 30s!

MissClimpsonsTypingBureau · 01/09/2017 19:34

I know one Martha (6), one Clara (28), and one Margot (95).

icantgetnosleep5 · 01/09/2017 19:39

i know looooads!
But i guess that means its a good name ?

I have a Margot, she's the only one i know,
i do like Martha , imo Margot and Martha are more 'solid' names, Clara is the sort of girly name which i can imagine would get on my nerves saying it over and over again !

redrobinblue · 01/09/2017 19:43

Ahhh thank you! Am new to the baby name board as wasn't on MN with previous DC. By 'eck you're a friendly bunch!

I do love Clara, and it has a family tie, but have seen it a lot on here of late.

One of our other DC is a Mabel - so worried a

Mabel & Margot
Mabel & Martha

Combo might be a bit twee? Or overthinking?

Can't seem to warm to any other names!

AccrualIntentions · 01/09/2017 19:45

I love Clara and probably would have gone for it but DH doesn't like it. I don't know any.

PanannyPanoo · 01/09/2017 19:58

I love Clara it was one of our top choices along with
Mabel
Kitty
Jemima

also considered
Verity
Polly
Nancy

I don't know any 'Claras I think Mabel and Clara is lovely. I prefer it to both names with m initials.

scrivette · 01/09/2017 20:00

I know of a 5 year old and a 1 year old Clara. I love the name and think Clara and Mabel go very well together. (Not keen on your other names).

NC4now · 01/09/2017 20:04

Martha is my favourite girl's name. I only know one - a child aged seven-ish. It's my confirmation name, so two if I count myself.

Clara is lovely too. I don't know any Claras.

Mabel is a bit nana for my taste but pretty enough.

NC4now · 01/09/2017 20:06

Oh sorry, I misread. You already have Mabel 😳 Mortified!! As I say, pretty name. I think it goes with Martha or Clara just fine.

redrobinblue · 01/09/2017 20:16

@NC4now hahahahah no offence taken at all! If it's any consolation, the only other two mabels I've met have been bulldogs!!
