I am looking for an unfussy name that works in various languages. One syllable would be good. I like Ros but none of the longer versions, so what about Rose?
Any opinions or suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Rose is lovely!

Some other one syllable girls names...

Eve
Claire
Fleur
Liv
Ruth
Tess
Nell
Meg
Belle

Thanks. I really love Meg, but my partner says that it's too American.
Just to give ideas about how I think... I like most of those but...

Eve - too popular
Claire - already used
Fleur - don't like the sound
Liv - I love Olivia, but is it too popular?
Ruth - bad associations
Tess - too posh?
Nell - I like it. A bit pretentious?
Meg - love it
Belle - too pretty!

Thanks again

I looooove the name Rose.

What about Kate?

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:32

Yes! Thanks 3wayburger

I like Faye, LOVE Anna but can't use it, and love May.

Maeve
Mary
Maria

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:35

Oh thanks you all.
I can't use Kate, but will probably (hopefully) either have Margaret or Kathryn as a middle name.

So list is now

Rose
Meg
May

Not sure if they go with the middle names but now I'm getting somewhere! Thank you.

Well you cant have Meg Margaret haha!

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:37

I did consider Maria for my first dd, but decided I wanted something a bit shorter and bit less christian. I do love it though.

pigeondujour · 02/08/2017 21:38

Could you have Margaret for her first name and nickname her Meg?

NapQueen · 02/08/2017 21:38

What is dd1s name?

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:39

You laugh NapQueen. I did consider this in the past and started a thread on it but was soon put right!
Of course I could call her Margaret, known as Meg, to honour the person I am using the middle name for. But then I'd be naming my daughter the same first and last name as my MIL - that wouldn't go down well with my mum!

DD1's name has been mentioned on this thread already.

HairyMcFairy16 · 02/08/2017 21:40

Clara?

PanannyPanoo · 02/08/2017 21:41

Rose is lovely. Tess and Nell are lovely too.
Other unfussy names
Judy
Lucy
Jane
Emma

pigeondujour · 02/08/2017 21:43

Claire and Meg are lovely. See your point about calling her MIL's name but it would be cute. Would Margaret Kathryn not be ok?

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:43

All lovely ideas. I like Jude rather than Judy, and can't use Lucy or Clara. Jane and Emma are almost too sensible somehow, but definitely the right vibe!

NapQueen · 02/08/2017 21:45

Juliet (nn Jools)?

NapQueen · 02/08/2017 21:45

Penny?

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:47

Not sure I'd get away with Margaret Kathryn, and it's a bit of a mouthful with our long surname. Perhaps a bit too old/ sensible. Though I do love Meg!

OP posts:
NapQueen · 02/08/2017 21:48

Just go for Meg Kathryn. Who honestly uses a full name? Our dd is Meg alice. I think I may have called her than once in her whole 6 years Grin

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:49

So how do I get Meg without calling her Margaret or Megan?!

OP posts:
MissAlligned · 02/08/2017 21:50

Rose is beautiful

blinkineckmum · 02/08/2017 21:50

x post! Just Meg. OK - I will put it to DH!
