What middle name would you give Seamus?

Not pregnant, just thinking

What middle name would you give Seamus? Something simple as surname is quite a difficult Irish name

I want to like Seamus Adam and Seamus Edward but there's something not quite right

I think mike was being tongue in cheek with Amos because it rhymes with Seamus Grin

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/07/2017 14:51

Oh, I hadn't realised. Blush I wondered if there might be some accents where the "os" and "us" sounded different.

MikeUniformMike · 27/07/2017 15:09

Ah! Rumbled. It would sound slightly different in my accent but I thought I'd risk it.

Jenny Penny and Polly Molly sound great but you'd need the personality to carry it off.

MeanAger · 27/07/2017 15:11

Mary Berry carries it well I think Grin

thisismadness77 · 27/07/2017 15:26

Joe

Floggingmolly · 27/07/2017 15:53

Jenny Penny does not sound great Confused. Polly Molly is not far behind it. Completely awful. Like characters from the Bunty.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/07/2017 16:00

Seamus Cormac
Seamus Craig
Seamus Ciaran
Seamus Callum
Seamus Alexander/Alastair

ohforfsake · 27/07/2017 16:16

Please don't ever call a child seamus, just don't.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/07/2017 16:18

Seamus is a perfectly reasonable name.

SaltLiquorice · 27/07/2017 16:21

What's wrong with people saying not to call a child Seamus Shock. I think they've been living in their own little bubble for too long. Lovely traditional name - I was only kidding about the middle name being Hamish! Blush

Floggingmolly · 27/07/2017 16:23

Why not, ohforfsake? You're not another one who doesn't even know how it's pronounced, are you?
Save your ire for the Fox, Wolf, Rex, Tulip (yes, there is one currently) threads. Those ones are bloody weird.

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/07/2017 16:24

What on earth is wrong with the name Seamus? It's a perfectly normal name. Why would people find it so utterly offensive that they would plead with a stranger not to give it to their son? Save the pleading for when someone suggests calling their child Adolf or Jizz.

frid · 27/07/2017 16:28

What is it that you dislike about Seamus, ohforfsake?

I don't mind people saying they dislike Seamus, as long as they at least explain what it is that they don't like about it

Oh I absolutely love Seamus! Good choice.
I think shorter names are nicer with it so maybe Jack, Noel, Jake, Myles. Although Seamus Oliver is lovely. I like Shay for short too.

wobblywonderwoman · 27/07/2017 16:29

Absolutely LOVE the name Seamus. Love it!

I think something simple and classic with it like John works. Or Owen.. Seamus Owen is lovely

Seamus Patrick or Seamus Oisin

rosyvalentine · 27/07/2017 16:30

I really like Seamus Finn or Seamus Fionn. I think the "F" works well after Seamus. How about Seamus Leo?

inneedofchocolate · 27/07/2017 16:31

Roy

frid · 27/07/2017 16:35

wobblywonderwoman, I love Oisín but Seamus Oisín sounds so Irish, and any future children will grow up in England

rosyvalentine, I agree that they have a nice sound, and lots of people have suggested Finn. Worried that Finn or Fionn sounds too much like Finnigan, as in Seamus Finnigan from Harry Potter

My father in law was seamed aloysius!
We went for James for our son, as im English, so he'll be in England a lot; seamus with our very Irish surname sounded like the name of a pub Grin

heateallthebuns · 27/07/2017 16:40

Seamus Owen is lovely!

heateallthebuns · 27/07/2017 16:42

Seamus Frederick
Seamus Joseph

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/07/2017 16:46

What about Finlay if you're worried about Finn?

heateallthebuns · 27/07/2017 16:49

You could reverse them to Finn Seamus?

hollyisalovelyname · 27/07/2017 17:20

Seamus Rory.
Though I really dislike Seamus.
For non Irish it looks like it would be pronounced Sea (the briny) mus.
Sorry OP

tintrighttintfair · 27/07/2017 17:36

Seamus Malone

I love the name. Poldark's horse in the series is called Seamus Smile
