Not pregnant, just thinking

What middle name would you give Seamus? Something simple as surname is quite a difficult Irish name

I want to like Seamus Adam and Seamus Edward but there's something not quite right

Osaurus would sound lovely

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/07/2017 11:36

Seamus Oliver or Seamus Nathaniel

I quite like Seamus Adam too

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/07/2017 11:43

Seamus is like semen?! Confused Grin

It's neither pronounced nor spelled like it. Its like saying you can't call a child Anna because it's too much like anal and all the kids will bully her and she won't be able to leave the house for shame.

Forgot to answer the OP. I really IME Seamus Jude and Seamus Charles which were suggested by PPs.

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/07/2017 11:45

Like not IME

Meandmouse · 27/07/2017 11:46

My favourite would be Patrick

Oh sorry. Just RTFT and seen you're not keen. I am also Irish but live in the U.K. So I wanted him to have a classic English name if he got didn't like Seamus. And there are lots of relatives called John in both our families, so it was a crowd pleaser.

Of the names mentioned, I wouldn't go for anything really Irish, if you don't live in Ireland. Though I adore Padraig, not sure it makes day to day life easy if you don't live in Ireland. Patrick is great too and works with Shay or Seamus.

Inthesleeplessnightgarden · 27/07/2017 12:00

Seamus Duncan
Seamus Rory
Seamus Matthew

jaboker · 27/07/2017 12:02

Geronimo

frid · 27/07/2017 12:17

Apparentlychilled, this is similar to my perspective on it, with regards to picking a more English name

I do like John and Patrick... but in my family if your son's first name isn't John or Patrick, then it's probably his middle name

I like Charles and Arthur

Frid how about a less classically English regal name, like Thomas or Matthew? The very Irish Seamus next to eg Charles doesn't seem to fit (to me).

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/07/2017 12:43

I like Seamus Adam.

frid · 27/07/2017 12:46

I like Thomas (and William) but they're on a list of names my cousin gave me years ago, telling me she'd be really mad if I used/stole them from her. I know it's ridiculous but I don't want to cause any unnecessary family drama over a middle name

Seamus Andrew.

Traditional, not too common and works well.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/07/2017 12:57

Just What?

Threeandabit · 27/07/2017 14:24

Seamus Oliver sounds good.

Seamus Ross
Seamus Vaughan
Seamus Oscar
Seamus Joel
Seamus Kurt

MikeUniformMike · 27/07/2017 14:26

Amos

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/07/2017 14:34

In my accent Seamus and Amos essentially rhyme so I'd personally avoid that. It'd be a bit like Jenny Penny or Polly Molly.
