No from me too.

LinoleumBlownapart · 23/07/2017 22:28

No but I'm not a fan not flower names, I think they're great on little girls, but little girls grow up.

iklboo · 23/07/2017 23:21

I'm changing my name to ranunculus as of tomorrow

KoalaDownUnder · 23/07/2017 23:24

No. It's awful.

iwishihadagun · 23/07/2017 23:26

Tulia
Tula
Tania

LittleIda · 23/07/2017 23:37

Tulips are my favourite flower but I'm not keen as a name. I think it's the lip sound

Buntysoven · 24/07/2017 00:43

I usually like flower names but Tulip along with Buttercup just sound a bit farm animal to me. Sorry!

Lemondrop99 · 24/07/2017 23:54

Not keen. There are some flowers, like Daffodil or Carnation, which just don't work well as names. Tulip is one of them IMO

Cheekyandfreaky · 24/07/2017 23:57

I think it's lovely, thought of the MP Tulip Siddiq who seems ace and no one bats an eyelid at her.

MommaGee · 25/07/2017 00:02

@Bubbaboo2 do spill

I like it but would question nn. maybe a standard middle name in case she struggles with it?

AdultHumanFemale · 25/07/2017 00:04

Quite, DaisyPond , that book is one of the most chilling pieces of junior fiction I have ever come across. Such a pretty name, but gives me the same kind of shudders as Kevin as in We Need To Talk About...

CauliflowerSqueeze · 25/07/2017 00:08

I like tulips but not the name.

Round here people would say Chew lip.

Kazzawazza69 · 25/07/2017 16:12

I quite like it, it's different!

bridgetreilly · 25/07/2017 20:28

I like flower names, but I just don't like the sound of Tulip. I doubt she'd be specially teased for it, though. In this generation it'll fit in with a lot of other names.

milosmummy16 · 25/07/2017 20:38

Very pretty xx

Mamabear4180 · 25/07/2017 20:44

It doesn't look pretty written down and there's very few nicknames-Tula/Tulie or tu-tu is likely but in theory any flower name is on a par with classics like Rose. It wouldn't be my choice though

TurquoiseDress · 27/07/2017 10:21

Rose yes, Tulip no

Although, isn't there a journalist called Tulip Mazumdar on the BBC? works well with that surname

Liadain · 27/07/2017 12:38

Sometimes in Ireland you'll hear someone being called "a fucking tulip". It's not complimentary.

Besides that, it just seems a bit soppy tbh. I feel the same about Posy tbh - just a bit bland and meek.

Floggingmolly · 27/07/2017 12:42

Yes, in Ireland it's kind of synonymous with gobshite...

runningyogabooze · 27/07/2017 12:43

No. Nice for a rabbit maybe. Not a person.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/07/2017 12:43

Tulip is different though.
Daisy, Rose, Jasmine ect have all been done to death

MayDupp · 27/07/2017 12:52

My DD is called Tulip. I've never come across anyone in RL that's been rude about it, at least not to my face. Then again, I'm the kind of person that's perfectly capable of telling people where they can stick their opinions, so that's maybe why.Wink

All the other flower names were considered unusual once.

Namehunting001 · 27/07/2017 23:10

@MayDupp how lovely to hear from someone who has a daughter named Tulip :) how old is she?

We have loved this name since watching Preacher!!

Thanks everyone for their opinions - much appreciated and helping us immensely to decide :)
