Love it

EsmesBees · 22/07/2017 15:50

Love it, was almost dd1's name

daisypond · 22/07/2017 16:56

I'm not keen on it. Small flower, often a weed. It's a fashionable name right now, so I'm a minority, I suppose. Will probably date. Sounds like "violence".

Justhadmyhaircut · 22/07/2017 16:58

The loveliest old lady I ever knew was called Violet. . Def a yes from me!

Chocachoo · 22/07/2017 17:09

Love it!

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 22/07/2017 17:10

Like Violet...not too keen on Vi.

leghoul · 22/07/2017 17:17

I like it but I would not use it because it is only one letter different to 'violent'

But that's ridiculous because Violet itself is a beautiful name.

MollyHuaCha · 22/07/2017 17:20

Beautiful name.

happyinherts · 22/07/2017 17:20

I used to consider it quite old lady-ish, but over the last few years my family has welcomed the addition of 'colour' names - we have a Jade, Coral and Scarlett. My friend has an 'Amber.' In that context, I've changed my mind. Violet is actually quite nice.

SteppingOnToes · 22/07/2017 17:22

I'm fussy with names and I love it

DurhamDurham · 22/07/2017 17:26

I really like it, my husband thinks it's awful. We rarely agree on names.

midsomermurderess · 22/07/2017 17:26

I don't like.

DramaAlpaca · 22/07/2017 17:28

I like it.

Friolero · 22/07/2017 17:29

I like a lot of the old names that have become popular again in recent years, but not really Violet.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 22/07/2017 17:31

No, sorry.

I always think of 'violent'

Plus our new neighbours have a Violet. Let's just say she is a 'spirited' child who reminds me very much of Violet Beauregarde for Charlie and The Chocolate FactoryGrin

flissfloss65 · 22/07/2017 17:31

It's pretty but I still see it as a great gran name. I'd dislike nm Vi. I think if you know a few young people with this type of name it changes your view.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 22/07/2017 17:31

"I'm fussy with names"

Aren't most people?

TedShaker · 22/07/2017 17:32

I dont really like the nickname Vi either which is a shame

Katmeifyoucan · 22/07/2017 17:32

Love it. Love Vivi as a nickname

custardcreamdreamz · 22/07/2017 17:35

Love it

IamDBCooper · 22/07/2017 17:35

Love! It was my top girls name but alas I had two boys!

Blossomdeary · 22/07/2017 17:38

It is a nice name but it will be shortened to Vi which really does conjure up rollers and a fag drooping from the corner of the mouth!

Sophronia · 22/07/2017 17:43

Not keen, it's very trendy and will date, and to me it sounds too much like "violent".

toldmywrath · 22/07/2017 17:45

Love love love it. I've never associated it with violent!
What about Viloetta, Etta for short.

toldmywrath · 22/07/2017 17:46

Ahem, Violetta. Darn autocorrect.
