Clementine. NN Clemmie. I love it. This will be last baby (4th) so Iast chance for this.

Trouble is, it has the same number of syllables as our last name. And the last syllables rhyme.

So think 'Clementine Hannodyne' (not our real surname but a close approximation).

So can I? Pretty please?

Honest opinions very much wanted. Be as brutal as you want.

Yes. Yes, you can. Last name not ideal, but not a huge problem I think.

I bloody love the name Clementine and would use it in a flash. You'll regret it if you don't.

TheFaerieQueene · 05/07/2017 10:17

Of course it is fine. How many times a day do you say your full name?

Eeek, I would say not :(

Can you give us your exact surname?

BertrandRussell · 05/07/2017 10:21

No.

You say your full name the time throughout school.

caprifun · 05/07/2017 10:21

What about clemency as a non rhyming alternative? But if you really love it, go for it .

auntym · 05/07/2017 10:21

Yes, use the name you love or you'll regret it. Surname not a big issue imo.

AuntieStella · 05/07/2017 10:22

I have to say I'm not a fan of Clementine (as I haven't the patience to be forever correcting people who say 'teen' not 'tyne' or vice versa)

But I think Clementina is a marvellous name

FetchezLaVache · 05/07/2017 10:22

Would she mostly go by Clemmie? Because if so, "Clemmie Hannodyne" sounds lovely.

HelloFreedom · 05/07/2017 10:22

Oh Facelike...it was going so well.

I really dont want to give exact surname. Its unusual. Very few people in the UK have it. And since baby has not been announced I'd rather not. Soz.

Thnx for input tho.

The rest of you, I love you. I love you all.

Clemency! That's wonderful!

HelloFreedom · 05/07/2017 10:23

She would be Clemmie, yes

HeadlessGummyBears · 05/07/2017 10:25

Go for it Smile You'll regret it if you don't. Besides, if the rhyming bothers you then you could just add in a middle name or two so that it won't rhyme so much.

NataliaOsipova · 05/07/2017 10:26

I love Clementine. Suggested it for one of my DDs, but DH wasn't having it. The surname thing isn't ideal, but I've heard worse!

OhWifey · 05/07/2017 10:29

If she's mostly Clemmie then the rhyming doesn't really matter. I actually don't think it matters anyway; it'll be catchy and memorable and that might be a good thing.

HelloFreedom · 05/07/2017 10:30

Wow, this is going so much better than anticipated. I figured the rhyming would be a big no no.

DeliciouslyHella · 05/07/2017 10:32

Yes, it's gorgeous! I wanted Clementine for DD2 (currently 37 weeks pregnant) and DH has vetoed it. So do it for me please.

livefornaps · 05/07/2017 10:35

Ahhh, I think it's lovely. You do it! Enjoy your baby Clementine. That's sweet

LemonBreeland · 05/07/2017 10:38

Do it!!! DH wouldn't let me name our DD Clementine, she's now ^ and I still regret not pushing for it more.

SeveredPixieBits · 05/07/2017 10:42

I'd say no. Sorry. I would wince if I heard Clementine Hestletine or similar, and she'll be saying her full name many times a day for her first couple of decades.

BertrandRussell · 05/07/2017 10:46

Just imagine if it was you who was the self conscious child having to say it several times a day throughout your childhood. Don't be selfish and unkind.

Shannith · 05/07/2017 10:49

Got one. Known as Clemmie. Clementine when she is naughty. I love it and most people seem to.

Or they may be being polite. She has a one syllable middle and last name, middle one very popular in case she decides later that her parents choice was one made slightly high on morphine (me/tricky birth).

She does get quite a lot of Tyne, not tine. Clementina would solve that.

Love the name, although I think all parents love their children's names or we would call them all Bob or something.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 05/07/2017 10:50

I know a Clemence (I can't do the accent over the first E on the laptop!) - she has a French surname, so it works, but maybe that could be an option for you too?

HelloFreedom · 05/07/2017 10:50

Ok...what about it do you think will make her self conscious. The name itself, or the rhyming?

HelloFreedom · 05/07/2017 10:51

That was to Bertrand
