Elynor or Elinor?

Which spelling do you prefer? Online Elynor has been described as a "creative" spelling of Elinor! I've (almost) ruled out the original spelling of Eleanor. Thanks guys!

Eleanor

Elinor
Elynor

In that order

DramaAlpaca · 28/06/2017 11:29

I'd go for Elinor or Eleanor.

Elynor is actually quite pretty, but the spelling will cause issues.

DeliciouslyHella · 28/06/2017 11:29

Eleanor, every time.

The other spellings just don't look right to me and DD will spend her life spelling her name for others.

BaronessBomburst · 28/06/2017 11:31

Eleanor

TonicAndTonic · 28/06/2017 11:34

Given that you have almost ruled out Eleanor (which would be my first preference). I would say Elinor. I recognise that spelling from having read Sense and Sensbility and it's nice.

I've never seen the spelling Elynor before, so it does look made up to me, sorry!

PuppyMonkey · 28/06/2017 11:35

Don't rule out Eleanor.

Emily7708 · 28/06/2017 11:35

Eleanor - beautiful, classic name. The other spellings look totally wrong.

Eleanor...

TonicAndTonic · 28/06/2017 11:36

sorry for repeat post - web browser problems!

SleepFreeZone · 28/06/2017 11:36

Why have you ruled out the correct spelling?

OddBoots · 28/06/2017 11:37

Eleanor

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 28/06/2017 11:38

Eleanor is by far and away the nicest (and one of my favourite names) but if I had to choose from your alternatives, Elinor edges it. Sense and Sensibility being the reason!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 28/06/2017 11:38

"Creative" when it comes to spelling baby names is a euphemism for "wrong".

Eleanor or Elinor. Or even Elena are all pretty.

dairymilkmonster · 28/06/2017 11:39

Eleanor
Ditch the other spellings a it will just give you hassle forever!

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 28/06/2017 11:39

Why have you ruled out the correct spelling?

Elinor isn't incorrect - it's Welsh.

I like Elinor. Elynor looks awkward to me.

Peckwater · 28/06/2017 11:40

Eleanor is much the nicest, followed (but quite a long way behind) by Elinor. The Elynor spelling I don't like at all, and everyone will default to spelling it one of the other ways unless specifically instructed not to, anyway.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 28/06/2017 11:40

Yeah the y is awful. Very Game of Thrones. Go for the original or the i.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/06/2017 11:42

Elinor

Sophronia · 28/06/2017 12:03

Eleanor or Elinor

Floggingmolly · 28/06/2017 12:06

Why would you "rule out" the correct spelling? Confused. How perfectly ridiculous.

SuperBeagle · 28/06/2017 12:13

You could go with Elenore like the Turtles song.

harderandharder2breathe · 28/06/2017 12:19

I live in Wales so used to Elinor

Don't use "creative" spellings like Elynor!

TinyRick · 28/06/2017 12:24

Eleanore.

I also really like Lenore (Poe fan)

TinyRick · 28/06/2017 12:24

Ack I meant Eleanor
