DD is almost 6 weeks - no one likes our chosen name... Haven't registered her yet! I just don't know what to do :( there are lots of threads on the name, but they always get negative replies, so I doubt they end up using it. I love it... My mum isn't keen, but she keeps telling me to use it (in all fairness, she has always said that I should go with what I love) but DP's family hate it. Everyone on here hates it and say that they judge people with that name, so it puts me off. Grace would be the middle name and it's just unfortunate that it's now classed as a filler middle name (I've always loved Grace) but DP doesn't like it, so he agreed to have it for the middle. I suppose it just makes it even worse as it's a known middle name for the name.

I'm literally getting myself so upset over it.

What's the name?

PotteringAlong · 19/06/2017 22:25

They don't need to like it. If you like it then that's fine.

Moo31 · 19/06/2017 22:26

You have to tell us what the name is ...

Although I would say it's your child and it's your decision - go with your heart!

AppleSmoothie · 19/06/2017 22:26

Everyone is just going to slate it, like on all the other threads Sad so don't really see the point in saying it, but Madison.

Madison is a lovely name! I know an 18 month old Madison - she gets Maddie. If anyone has an issue its their problem. I think it is lovely and if you like it then stick to your guns.
P.s congratulations on your little girl!

NEmum · 19/06/2017 22:28

That name is fine!

Not my type of name but not outlandish & totally inoffensive! Go for it if you love it, youlll regret changing it otherwise

FanDabbyFloozy · 19/06/2017 22:29

I like Madison. I've never met one in this country.

PovertyJetset · 19/06/2017 22:29

I'm Scottish so Madison and MAdeline are always a no from me as being called "maddie" means you are nuts! Like-

She's a pure maddie, a right headcase.

Malfoyy · 19/06/2017 22:30

If you like it then keep it.

I was expecting you to say Chardonnay or something when you said everyone hates it! Madison is nice!

AppleSmoothie · 19/06/2017 22:30

Thank you. Yes, we love Maddie. We didn't want Madeleine though, due to various pronunciations and we just prefer Madison. I can't believe how many threads I've seen of it lately and then all the negative comments it gets, so it just made me feel even worse and tip me into the "I don't think I should do it" camp.

I would say nothing wrong with Madison - lovely name, not outlandish like I was expecting!
Anyone who doesn't like it will get used to it.

HerRoyalNotness · 19/06/2017 22:30

Madison Grace is really lovely. If anyone irl is nasty about, tell them to get stuffed

Bloosh · 19/06/2017 22:31

Oh honestly just go with the name you have chosen. I like it!

marmitecrumpets · 19/06/2017 22:31

It's a lovely name. Go for it!

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 19/06/2017 22:32

She's your baby call her whatever you like..dont let others out you off.
For what it's worth I like Madison.

rhubarbcrumble66 · 19/06/2017 22:32

I think it's lovely. But regardless of anyone else's opinions she is your daughter and you should call her what you and your partner like.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is great.

RockyBird · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison was on my list when I had DD. It is still a favourite of mine.

Congratulations Flowers

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 19/06/2017 22:32

An awful lot of people most definitely do like madison BUT that doesn't matter anyway. You like that name and that is what counts!

Chilver · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is lovely. If you like it, use it. Don't forget though that despite you using it, your daughter may decide at 4yo that she wants to call herself a shortened/ nickname version of their name like my daughter did! So you only get 'control' over your chosen name for a short time Grin so go for it!

Amethyst975 · 19/06/2017 22:32

Madison is a lovely name! Not sure about Maddie though...

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 19/06/2017 22:34

It's lovely. Use it

HelsinkiLights · 19/06/2017 22:34

I know a gorgeous little girl called Madison. It's a lovely name. So stuff everyone else & use what you want!

cushioncovers · 19/06/2017 22:34

Love the name Maddison if I'd had a girl that was my first choice

Funko · 19/06/2017 22:34

Good god I thought you were going to say something like Cidar or lightening or rhombus or something equally ridiculous. Madison is great, bugger what everyone else thinks. By the time she is 1 no one will EVER think about it. It will just be a name like every other in your families.

Congrats!
