DD is almost 6 weeks - no one likes our chosen name... Haven't registered her yet! I just don't know what to do :( there are lots of threads on the name, but they always get negative replies, so I doubt they end up using it. I love it... My mum isn't keen, but she keeps telling me to use it (in all fairness, she has always said that I should go with what I love) but DP's family hate it. Everyone on here hates it and say that they judge people with that name, so it puts me off. Grace would be the middle name and it's just unfortunate that it's now classed as a filler middle name (I've always loved Grace) but DP doesn't like it, so he agreed to have it for the middle. I suppose it just makes it even worse as it's a known middle name for the name.

I'm literally getting myself so upset over it.

Madison is a lovely name, it's not to everyone's taste but there's nothing wrong with that she's your daughter not theirs as long as you and your DH love that name that's all that matters.

LilQueenie · 20/06/2017 20:08

what the hell is wrong with people I think its a lovely name. Use it if you wish. Ignore others and let them deal with their problem over it.

littlemisseatsherfeelings · 20/06/2017 20:30

I was expecting something MUCH worse!! It's lovely, there's a little girl at my sons nursery with that name but otherwise only heard it used once or twice so it's that lovely combination of not weirdly unpronounceable but also not really common.

Stay strong OP! Keep it if you love it. You will always regret it (and bitterly resent the others) if you change it when you both love it.

@Goingtobeawesome the OP wasn't being rude... Grace is a known filler middle name, along with May and Rose. Doesn't mean they aren't lovely names. OP even says Grace would have been her preferred choice! What's your problem?

mightymouse76 · 20/06/2017 20:59

Apple Only skim read as also have 6 week old sucking my brain dry, but I really love Madison. Wasn't that the name of Cybill Shepherd's amazing character in Moonlighting? I totally wanted to be her as a kid. And I know a super cool successful Maddie IRL too.

Also op we had similar issues with our boy, Inlaws really hated our choice of first name so we caved and put it second (registered last week). Now we're calling him by it anyway! And might swap them within the 12 month window (you can do that btw-we didn't know either)
So sod everyone else- you know who she is better than anyone. Stick to your guns!

Goingtobeawesome · 20/06/2017 21:00

I have no problem. Just think it's silly to be dictated to by others. Who decided Grace was a filler middle name? Such a silly concept. And I never said the OP was rude.

I know one Madison.
Lovely girl.
Go ahead and get her registered.

Never. Ask. Opinions. On. Your. Name.

Just read the debates on here. No two people will ever agree.

Announce the name. End of.

Your baby. Xxx
