Kirrily's Sister

Our daughter's name is Kirrily Diana. It's an old Australian name that we found in my family tree. I think it's absolutely gorgeous and we both love it so, so much. Now, Diana was a name we considered for Kirrily's first name but we didn't like the nickname Di, so it became her middle name.
Now, we are expecting a daughter. We like the names, Aviva, Aurelia and Aurora. Aurora's my middle name so there's a nice link but DH doesn't love it. Kirrily and Aurelia is a little hard to say. Not everybody likes Aviva. I think it's beautiful though. What would you choose?

Aurelia for sure.

Avila is a sports stadium where I live, so I'm biased!

fruityb · 26/04/2017 20:28

Aviva is an insurance company so maybe not! I love Aurelia

ScarletForYa · 26/04/2017 20:28

Aviva not Avila!

ShiningArmour · 26/04/2017 20:30

I love Aurora, beautiful name.

Ditsy1980 · 26/04/2017 20:30

I love Aurora and like Aurelia.
Please don't go with Aviva, it's an insurance company, that's all I think of when I see Aviva.
Out of interest, how do you pronounce Kirrily? It's not a name I've ever come across but I like how Kirrily Diana sounds x

BalloonDinosaur · 26/04/2017 20:31

Agree with PP, Aviva is an insurance company to me.
I prefer Aurelia personally, I have a friend with a daughter called Aurora and although I wasn't a fan at first it's definitely grown on me,

neonrainbow · 26/04/2017 20:33

Aviva is a huge insurance company. Id go with Aurelia.

thatgirlcalledkyle · 26/04/2017 20:34

Like kir-i-lly if that makes any sense. Really? Aviva's my favourite. Sad We're American and I've never heard of Aviva. Does that make a difference?

I like Aviva, Aurora and Aurelia. But I do prefer Aurelia.

Aurora is a bit too princessy imo and Aviva does sound like an insuance company... Aurelia is gorgeus :)

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 26/04/2017 20:34

*o

AlwaysTheWinner · 26/04/2017 20:37

I like Aurora best out of the three. How about Adelaide? It's a lovely name and another Australian link.

Ditsy1980 · 26/04/2017 20:38

I wasn't sure if Kirrily was pronounced 2 syllables or 3. It's lovely.

If you're American and live in the US and you both love the name I would go with Aviva then. If you live in the UK I'm certain people will constantly say "Aviva?!? Like the insurance company?" Whenever you introduce DD2.

thatgirlcalledkyle · 26/04/2017 20:40

So, if we take away the insurance company factor. What do you think of Aviva?

OP posts:
thatgirlcalledkyle · 26/04/2017 20:41

Don't love Adelaide enough.

Ditsy1980 · 26/04/2017 20:42

I've just googled it and Aviva is a Hebrew name meaning Innocent or Springtime... That changes my opinion of it, it's quite lovely when you read that description.
However, personally, I couldn't get past the insurance company connection Grin

MrsNuckyThompson · 26/04/2017 20:43

Hard to take away the 'insurance factor'. It's a massive well known household name. Like Ford or something. Most British people would think of that!

What about Vida?

Chunkamatic · 26/04/2017 20:44

Do you live in the U.K.? If so I don't think you can take the insurance company aside...

As a name on its own merits I think it's quite pretty.

thatgirlcalledkyle · 26/04/2017 20:45

As said above, I'm American in America.

Alyssia/Alicia is nice and Lissy is a nice shortening of it,.

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 26/04/2017 20:49

Can I also suggest Oriana?

I do feel that Aurelia (and Aurora and Aviva) are a bit "common" compared to Kirrily...

thatgirlcalledkyle · 26/04/2017 20:52

Alicia's a bit dated. Oriana was on our list but I mentioned it to one of DH's friends, who came out with they'll all call her Oral and it's playing on my mind so I've taken it off. It's too similar to Ariana as well.

Sounds like you are set on Aviva. If you love it, go with it - particularly if you're not in the UK. My favourite of those names is Aurelia.

paperdreams16 · 26/04/2017 20:55

Aurelia is lovely and I think it goes well with Kirrily.

It seems you have your heart set on Aviva, though?

Sophronia · 26/04/2017 20:55

Aviva is my favourite

ifigoup · 26/04/2017 20:56

I love Aviva and was really annoyed when (was it?) Norwich Union changed its name, as DH immediately vetoed it for any future daughter.
