Samuel - how is it pronounced?

We are considering the name Samuel, but we seem to disagree on the pronunciation. One of us thinks that it's Sam-u-el and the other thinks it's Sam-uel...

I'd use three syllables but I think that there's not too much difference in how Samuel is said in most English accents really. The three syllable approach is just a bit more enunciated.

Three syllables here, sam-u-el, although there's not much difference between pronouncing it with two or three really, not in sound.
