Callum is nicer.

befuddledgardener · 21/04/2017 09:05

Or Dan

Mummamayhem · 21/04/2017 09:08

Caden is a nice spelling. I've only seen Kaiden. I like the name. Common? Working class? Yes but who who really cares? Name your baby a name you love to say

befuddledgardener · 21/04/2017 09:08

Leon

Sparrowlegs248 · 21/04/2017 09:12

When I said common I meant popular. But tbf it is does have the other meaning of common associated with it, where I live anyway. Though most of them are spelt with a K. I much prefer it spelt Caden.

Ultimately op it's your choice, and you like it, that's all that matters.

Ryan is okay and definitely better than Cayden (which is probably my most hated name!)

socialanxietysrus · 21/04/2017 09:15

Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, I can't possibly comment without seeing a pic of the squidgy one! Please!

DalaHorse · 21/04/2017 09:18

Caden is today's equivalent of Kevin/Darren/Sharon/Tracey. Will date badly and (sorry to say) possibly hold him back as a lot (not all) will associate it negatively as seen on this thread. That will include teachers, employers in the future etc, some will pre-judge whether you like it or not.

I think you would be placing him at a social disadvantage to name him Caden.

Calum or Calvin are similar but not so negatively connected.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 21/04/2017 09:29

I'd rather have a child named Caden than have a child who grew up to judge others on their names, let's put it that way :) I think Caden is lovely, and it's a gorgeous spelling. I'm not crazy on Kaydan/Kaidan, but I think Caden/Caeden/Caydan is lovely.

And yes! We need to see a picture, it's the law Wink

MyGastIsFlabbered · 21/04/2017 09:32

Ovaries can you honestly say you've never, ever made a judgement on a name? I don't believe it.

Williamson1985 · 21/04/2017 09:34

To those who want a picture:

I actually don't like the Kayden spelling! I know that's odd, but we just love Caden/Cade.

He's lovely :)

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 21/04/2017 09:43

MyGast I've thought "I don't like that name" or "I like that name", if those are what we're calling judgments. I've never thought "ooh that person will be chavvy" or "ooh that person will be intelligent", because I'm not daft enough to think that the name on your birth certificate will determine that.

Maybe it comes from years of being told my name sounds like a prostitute's or that I have wannabe American parents, and no-one expecting very much of me because of it?

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 21/04/2017 09:44

My actual ovaries are exploding Shock he is sooo lovely.

He's definitely a Cade/Caden :)

twattymctwatterson · 21/04/2017 09:50

What about just Cade then? I actually much prefer that to Caden

SquedgieBeckenheim · 21/04/2017 09:50

I don't like Caden (or any of its variant spellings).
I do like Ryan.

MazDazzle · 21/04/2017 09:52

He's beautiful!

Congratulations.

I prefer the Caden spelling too. That spelling is fairly popular in Scotland. Mumsnet is not the best place to ask opinions on names. Some of the suggestions are ludicrous!

If you love it, go with it.

Obsidian77 · 21/04/2017 09:53

He's so beautiful, congratulations Flowers

MrsMeeseeks · 21/04/2017 09:56
