There's nothing wrong with Caden or Ryan at all, I like both. All that matters is that you & your partner both like the name. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

If you prefer Caden, then use it.
You do not need to adhere to a forum.
We are here solely, to give our opinion.
Caden is fine OP, as is Ryan, which I personally prefer.

Veterinari · 20/04/2017 22:51

Caden is a nice name and great spelling
Cade is lovely
Ryan is nice too

On MN there's a lot of name snobbery. But Caden is a lovely name probably derived from Gaelic and meaning 'warrior'. Caden is not made up, and has a lovely straightforward spelling.

No one in RL would think twice about it - it's only here where unpleasant folks would automatically tar your innocent child with negative assumptions.

Enjoy your beautiful boy and have the confidence to call him a name you love

YouBloodyWhat · 20/04/2017 23:02

If you both like it, then go for it. It's not like it's offensive or anything. Who cares what mumsnet thinks?

Sophronia · 20/04/2017 23:48

I actually quite like Caden

BackforGood · 21/04/2017 00:05

I prefer Ryan, even though it wouldn't be my choice, it's a good solid name.

A variety of spellings of Caden (I've probably seen 6 or 7) make it one of those confusing names, plus it has been very popular over the last 5 - 7 years in the area I live.

Obsidian77 · 21/04/2017 00:08

I know a lovely little boy called Caden.....but I hate the name. Sorry. I also think it's quite a contemporary name and will date badly.

Catrina1234 · 21/04/2017 00:18

Sorry but I think it's chavvy.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 21/04/2017 00:24

To me personally I'd imagine it spelt Kayden and lump it in with Jayden. I like Ryan though. How about Liam as an alternative?

upwardsandonwards33 · 21/04/2017 00:28

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! Flowers

I love the name Caden but as a pp said, I would spell Kayden.
I also really like Kadian. I read somewhere that it meant cheerful and charming.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 21/04/2017 01:17

I prefer Ryan since you ask but you need to call your baby whatever you like, not worry too much about other people.
My DH was saying the other day what a positive reaction we've had when introducing our DS, I pointed out that they might just be being polite to our faces, chances are it's not to everyone's taste but who cares?

Tartyflette · 21/04/2017 01:23

I would think he came from Jaywick. Sorry.

notangelinajolie · 21/04/2017 01:24

Sounds very chav to me. Is this even a name or have you made it up?

DontMentionTheWar · 21/04/2017 01:44

Really awful name that's common at the moment. It's in the Jaden/Jayden/Kayden bracket and will date very badly. A bit like Darren and Wayne in the 1970s. Aiden/Aidan is much nicer.

Imknackeredzzz · 21/04/2017 01:46

Ugh sorry Caden is awful, will date badly and sorry sounds so chavvy to me

user1482079332 · 21/04/2017 01:47

Congratulations op! Your brave seeking mn advice on a name

Veterinari · 21/04/2017 06:55

Sounds very chav to me. Is this even a name or have you made it up?

So you're not capable of actually reading the thread then notangelina ? but it's pretty clear you don't let your ignorance inhibit your judgement. Nice

Saucery · 21/04/2017 07:00

It's a perfectly nice name and if you like it, use it. People's preconceptions about names aren't important, because your Caden isn't going to be badly behaved etc etc and naming him that won't make him so.

BroomstickOfLove · 21/04/2017 07:01

It's a name that is generally associated with coming from a working class family. That might be a good thing, a bad thing, or irrelevant depending on your point of view. The only Caden I know is a really lovely, polite, kind ten year old, so my associations with the name are good.

dustarr73 · 21/04/2017 07:05

I like Caden and I have a Ryan. Call your lovely newborn what you and your Dp wants.Noboy elsrs business.

chipsnmayo · 21/04/2017 07:16

It's nice op, wouldn't be my choice but it's far better than the old fashioned pretentious names that mn seem to fawn over.

garmsfresh · 21/04/2017 08:27

There is a Caden at my sons nursery , his mother has a bulldog tattoo on her chest area ...

MollyHuaCha · 21/04/2017 08:40

I'm not a fan of this name or any of the alternative spellings - it does not pass the 'prime minister' test - but if you like it, have it.

user1492757084 · 21/04/2017 09:02

Here are other handsome C names you might like as well.

Cedric, Caleb, Charles, Clyde and Campbell.
You might like Dan or Daniel?
You will choose the best name to suit him.
Caden is sweet.
