I have a Dorothea! She's 2 now and we call her Dot.

Shockers · 27/03/2017 23:14

I like Dorothea, but I prefer Violet as a middle name.

crapfatbanana · 27/03/2017 23:16

Maud!
I'm actually jealous. It's on my list for baby number five...which isn't happening.

loveisenough · 27/03/2017 23:28

Maude Violet is lovely

StaggerLeee · 27/03/2017 23:35

Maud is the only one that is acceptable. Actually it's quite nice.

squoosh · 28/03/2017 00:04

I can't believe so many people like the name Maud. It sounds like a sad groaning noise to me.

Dorothea is the best of those three.

DebiNewberry · 28/03/2017 00:14

Maxim and Nina, also Willa is beautiful too.

Love the background to your names

squoosh · 28/03/2017 00:19

I'm trying to picture a mini Maxim (I do like the name) but all I can see is a dashing Laurence Olivier being a bit shifty about his first wife 😄

sycamore54321 · 28/03/2017 00:38

I am not a huge fan of your first names at all. I do like the stories behind your choices though. Can I suggest you rethink middle names - Dorathea Catherine is a mouthful with the repeated TH sound and it is cumbersomely long. One of the other middle name choices would be far better.

mummytobemaybe · 28/03/2017 00:54

Dorothea Catherine

harrietm87 · 28/03/2017 01:09

Dorothea Catherine

FreeNiki · 28/03/2017 01:16

Dorothea Catherine nn Thea.

mylaptopismylapdog · 28/03/2017 02:38

Dorothea Catherine gives her lots of options, Dot,Thea,Kate, Katie and Cathy b I would go with Thea.

mylaptopismylapdog · 28/03/2017 02:38

But not b!

Pemba · 28/03/2017 02:45

Dorothea Catherine is lovely.

Fuxfurforall · 28/03/2017 02:49

Maude, with the 'e'. It has a lovely back story for you both.

But it was also my Grandmother 's name, so perhaps I am a bit biased.

Izzyathome · 28/03/2017 04:26

Like them all. Love Maude!!

Goforit2017 · 28/03/2017 05:03

I don't like Dorothea or Maude so would go for Wilhelmina although it's very unusual and I have never met one.

SuperBeagle · 28/03/2017 06:18

Dorothea Catherine.

I like Wilhelmina too, but only with Billie as a nickname.

I like Dora, so that's the only reason I'm choosing Dorothea.

n0ne · 28/03/2017 06:21

All lovely! Maude Violet has the edge for me

CPtart · 28/03/2017 06:33

Thea Catherine (don't like Dorothea, or the others).
You're overthinking the nn.

Monkeyface26 · 28/03/2017 06:42

I think they're all lovely. (I have a cat called Maud, but only because I ran out of daughters). Was the literary character Dorothea Brooke? She is kick-ass and would be an excellent character to be named after.
My dd16 thinks that they are all lovely names to but thinks that, during the early years of secondary school, she would have felt self-conscious about being called Wilhelmina.

blueskyinmarch · 28/03/2017 08:21

It must definitely be personal opinion because all these names summon up images of old ladies to me. I wouldn't saddle a child with any of them. But the least worst is Dorothea.

AllRoundGoodEgg · 28/03/2017 10:08

I prefer Dorothea

My DD is Theodora who was going to be Thea but ended up as Dora

nonameinspiration · 28/03/2017 19:07

Going for Dorothea - you could nn her Dory like Dory Previn the singer
