I'm afraid I can't vote because I don't like any of them at all. Sorry.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/03/2017 22:02

Love Dora

frums · 27/03/2017 22:06

In case it influences votes we already have a son: Maximillian (nn Maxim).

Dorothea Violet gets my vote. What do you mean that wasn't an option?

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/03/2017 22:10

I like Thea and Nina. Great names that work perfectly well by themselves.

Strongly dislike Maude and Wilhelmina, can just about cope with Dorothea.

DramaAlpaca · 27/03/2017 22:11

Dorothea Catherine, but only because it goes best with Maximilian.

Wayfarersonbaby · 27/03/2017 22:13

Definitely NO to Maxim and Maude - it sounds like a music hall act from the 1920s Shock Max and Willa sounds like a middle-aged American couple guest-starring in I Love Lucy in the 1950s. No no no.

Maxim and Dora is very cute together though OP! I think that's your pair. Smile

Crusoe · 27/03/2017 22:18

Dorothea is definitely the nicest.

FreshHorizons · 27/03/2017 22:19

Dorothea Catherine (Thea) but actually I much prefer Catherine Dorothea)
Don't call the poor child Maude or Wilhelmina - both dreadful!

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/03/2017 22:21

Maude and Wilhelmina are the names of ferocious Victorian ladies who head up their local temperance society. 'Lips that touch liquor shall never kiss mine'

Popskipiekin · 27/03/2017 22:23

I love Dorothea, and it has so many wonderful nns already mentioned upthread. (I reckon Doro/Dorrie would actually be super cool.) Definitely the best match with Maxim.
Willa as a standalone name is pretty - could you consider that? Willa Catherine is lovely.

ilovepixie · 27/03/2017 22:27

None of them! And I don't understand giving a child a name and then not calling them by it, but using a nick name instead. If you going to call a child Ben for example then have that name of the birth certificate not Benedict or something!

marmitecrumpets · 27/03/2017 22:33

Thea
(Dorothea Violet)

frums · 27/03/2017 22:35

It's all personal opinion isn't it Pixie? I'm he opposite, I don't understand not giving a person options: why call then Ben on the certificate when you could use Benedict and let them choose how to be known as an adult?

I liked name with options and with a story behind it. Dorothea was the character from fiction that my late mother most admired and did her PhD thesis on. Wilhelmina was my great great grandmother's name. She travelled around Afghanistan in the 1900s and kept a daily diary of her adventures. Maud Gonne, the Irish political activist and suffragette, was the subject of my own Masters thesis and the reason I met DH (he was researching her too).

Dorothea Catherine by miles

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/03/2017 22:46

Maude Violet is a strong, but lovely name.

Knifegrinder · 27/03/2017 22:46

I love Maud and Dorothea, and the reasons behind both names, but am not keen on the middle names you paired them with. I think Dorothea needs a short, simple middle name (Anne?) and Maud something a bit less showy than Violet..?

Wasn't Maud Gonne really an Edith? What about Maud Edith?

cece · 27/03/2017 22:50

Thea - we were going to call DC2 Alethea but he was a boy.

jollygoose · 27/03/2017 22:51

Oh please don`t call her Maud it sounds so hard - I like Dorothea

PennyPickle · 27/03/2017 22:53

Sorry I don't like any of them :/ Thea is probably the best imo

ilovepixie · 27/03/2017 22:55

Now you've explained it the names make sense and it's a lovely idea, and your daughter will love hearing the story behind her name whichever one you choose.

Notso · 27/03/2017 23:05

I love Maud Violet and I love your reason for choosing Maud.

My second choice would be Wilhelmina, Willa us a great nn.

I really don't love Dorothea but like Thea.

halcyondays · 27/03/2017 23:10

Dorothea Violet

Lala241280 · 27/03/2017 23:10

Sorry but don't like any of them 😞

Only1scoop · 27/03/2017 23:12

Dorothea is lovely, but doesn't go with Catherine
