When you hear the name Max...

Would you assume it's short for Maxwell or Maximilian?

DH and I both love 'Max' but agree it needs to be a bit longer on the birth certificate - but we can't decide whether it should be Maxwell or Maximilian and I'm curious to hear the MN consensus...

I would assume Max these days.

If you ask what's Max short for I would say Maximilian. If I had a Max (Which I don't) it would be Maximising.

*Maximilian

xStefx · 08/03/2017 18:56

Is bloody gorgeous

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/03/2017 18:57

Just Max, that is enough ! 😄

Bonkerz · 08/03/2017 18:58

My max is a Maxwell on his BC

FatOldBag · 08/03/2017 19:01

Maximus, if I thought about it I suppose. Or Max Power. Awesome.

OrlandoTheCat · 08/03/2017 19:01

I'd assume it's not short for anything....at a push I'd assume Maximilian

Underthemoonlight · 08/03/2017 19:02

We had this when we had DS as I felt max was too short we ended up calling him a different name last minute

Northernlurker · 08/03/2017 19:08

I know an adorable Max. He's a Maximus and he truly is the greatest GrinGrinGrin

WyfOfBathe · 08/03/2017 19:12

I know two boys known as Max. One is a Maxim, the other I'm pretty sure is just Max.

Maxwell was the name of the example dog on Nintendogs so whenever I read the name I can hear the very American voice in the game calling "Maaaxwell! Maaaxwell!" For that reason alone, I prefer Maxim/Maximilian.

blibblibs · 08/03/2017 19:13

I would presume he was just called Max.
It's a fabulous name all on its own 😊

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2017 19:13

I think Maximillian because it's DS's name Smile. It gets shortened to Max most of the time though.

Smidge001 · 08/03/2017 19:21

I prefer Maxwell. Seems more old fashioned / traditional / classic to me. (Which I prefer). I can imagine a suave older gentleman called Maxwel, notsomuch for Maximilian.

Smidge001 · 08/03/2017 19:21

Double L obviously. Blush

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 08/03/2017 19:24

I'd never assume, but personally know both a Maxwell and Maximilian.

Either work, so I'm no help. Sorry.

purplepaisley · 08/03/2017 19:24

Maximilian
or Maximus Decimus Meridius Smile
not Maxwell.

SoleBizzz · 08/03/2017 19:25

Dogs name. Sorry

largepinotplease · 08/03/2017 19:28

I have a Maxwell but I call him Max (DH insisted he couldn't be just Max) only DH and MIL ever call him Maxwell, I kind of wish we'd gone with Maximus! Max is a great name Wink

SusannahD · 08/03/2017 19:29

What about Maxim, i have a maxim and he loves his name

Forkrightorf · 08/03/2017 19:30

I have a Maximilian Grin we know 2 other Max's and 1 Maximus but no other Maximilian's. It's a great name, especially when you're telling him off!

whatsagoodusername · 08/03/2017 19:32

I would assume Maximilian. But the only Max I know is a Maxwell.

FrenchLavender · 08/03/2017 19:38

Not at all. I imagine most Maxes are just plain Max.

Zhabr · 08/03/2017 19:47

DS1 is known as Max. HIs BC name is Maxim.

krazipan · 08/03/2017 19:51

My DS is Maximus but is known as Max by almost everyone.

MrsDoylesladder · 08/03/2017 19:54

Max. Having Maximilian as his full name could be a PIA for every form he has to fill in. I have a multi syllable first name which I rarely use. As does my SIL.
