What does everyone think of Emma as a baby girl's name? Nice for both young and older child?

Very nice. It's a lovely, classic name.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 18/02/2017 18:39

Gorgeous.

Lovely for a baby and child. (And can always be Emmie if want to be cute!) Teenager can be "Em" if they want a new cool nickname.

Suitable for an adult with a grown up job. (I know a doctor and an accountant who are Emmas and it suits them.)

MiniAlphaBravo · 18/02/2017 18:40

Lovely. Would have used if family not already taken it. Fab for baby or adult and also like the Jane Austen connection.

Kim82 · 18/02/2017 18:41

Love it. It was dd3's name for a couple of days before we decided she didn't suit it.

DrDreReturns · 18/02/2017 18:42

I love the name Emma.

JayzuzMaryJoseph · 18/02/2017 18:43

People log it on MN and think its a classic...but honestly, i thnk its a bit dated. I grew up in the 80s and there ere about 6 in my year. It was the most common girls name and just seemed very...plain.

I think Emme is nicer. Emmeline even better.

JayzuzMaryJoseph · 18/02/2017 18:43

LOVE it not log it

esiotrot2015 · 18/02/2017 18:43

Agree , in my year it was Emma and Claire / Clare

Thank you! Getting other people's opinions really helps! X

It's fine.

Nothing remotely either objectionable or interesting about it, I don't think.

liquidrevolution · 18/02/2017 18:49

DD is an Emma. Theres actually a thread on here from around the time she was born about how dull and boring it is Hmm

I love it. All the emmas i personally know are lovely and successful which swayed me. Plus its easy to spell. Which is one of the reasons we chose it stupid long surname

Gingerbreadmam · 18/02/2017 18:52

intending on using as a middle name for current pregnancy if its a girl and get that far.

strong, pretty and not common at the moment.

Aderyn2016 · 18/02/2017 18:55

I love it too.

HellsBellsAndBucketsOfBlood · 18/02/2017 18:58

I have an 11 YO Emma, and she's the only one in her year at secondary school and was the only one at junior school.

I initially wanted Emily, but DH didn't.

Jooni · 18/02/2017 19:01

Not too popular now, and a good strong classic name. I like it a lot.

Ollycat · 18/02/2017 19:02

I love it - I have one (year 7) - there aren't many around (loads of Emily's, Amelie's, Amelia's). Most importantly dd loves it.

And yes to easy to spell - as someone with a name people find hard to spell this is a big bonus!

GrandmaGotRunOverByAReindeer · 18/02/2017 19:15

That's my name, it's ok and was very popular in the 80's, not so much now.

Please don't double barrel it, mines a double barreled one and I hate it, doesn't suit me at all and I prefer em

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/02/2017 19:21

Beautiful, timeless.

RuthB4 · 18/02/2017 19:25

Simply beautiful!

VanillaLatteAndCake · 18/02/2017 19:27

Love this name

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/02/2017 19:35

Love it. We would have used it if we had a girl, but it's my dh's ex wife's name so it was struck off the list.

Hotpinkangel19 · 18/02/2017 20:36

Thank you, I love it!!! Not intending to double barrel either! Still unsure about middle names x

This is my best friend's name. it was supposedly very common at the time we were born, but she's the only Emma I know.

It's a nice name. Short, easy to spell and pronounce, feminine and classic. I prefer Emily, personally, but there's nothing wrong with Emma.

Sophronia · 18/02/2017 22:31

Very nice.

Positivitee · 18/02/2017 22:33

Very, very dated and rather boring.
