Having baby today- no name if a girl

I have two DDs already, one flower name, one Irish name. Both have family names.

Names I like but can't use: Iris, Clover, Joni, Orla, Roisin, Ann/Annie, Nancy, Alannah, Cecilia, Ivy, Violet, Olivia, Ella, Rose...

I would like an Irish name (have Irish surname) but at this point we don't even have a short list of names.

Please help! I am a desperate non-sleeping pregnant lady.

I like Ida but it would be so frustrating for her to constantly correct her own name. I know most Irish names come with that- but Ida is particularly irksome as it looks like it should be easy!

Just noticed Bernadette from thereal that's another I like...

Aoibhin is lovely. Or Eibhlinn (Evlyn).

CoffeeCoffeeAndLotsOfIt · 09/02/2017 10:02

No suggestions I'm afraid, but just wanted to say good luck OP - hope everything goes smoothly

plutohasfeelingstoo · 09/02/2017 10:02

FrizzBombDelight · 09/02/2017 10:02

Lira, Breagh (bree-ah), Cora, Aisling, Evelyn, Fiona, Aoibheann (aveen)

Whatslovegottodo · 09/02/2017 10:07

Nuala (Noo-la)

Good luck today OP!

FrizzBombDelight · 09/02/2017 10:14

What are your boys names OP? I'm looking for an Irish boys name myself. Thinking of Caolan/Shane/Eoin but so very very common Confused

PunkAssMoFo · 09/02/2017 10:14

Nainsí is lovely.

I also like
Naiose
Aisling
Cara

Artandco · 09/02/2017 10:19

Do you have to have just Jane as middle name if concerned it doesn't flow?

Ie
Nainsi Evangeline Jane
Nainsi Jane Isolde
Evangeline Jane Lilian

Or whatever

Therealloislane · 09/02/2017 10:43

Frizz what about Killian? Fintan, Seoirse, Padraig...

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 09/02/2017 10:51

Wishing you all the best.

You have some lovely options:
Nainsi Jane
Evangeline Jane
Oona Jane
Yseult Jane

Scarydinosaurs · 09/02/2017 12:27

Oh I love all of these! Thank you!

We can break middle name up with another- that's fine!

Boys names as above, (Niall, Oisin, Patrick) but I also love Ciaran, Diarmuid, Rory (I like the English spelling for silly reasons) and I know lots of lovely Liams!

Ok so from the lists I like:

Fiadh (though DH probably won't- still using baby advice on this though)
Cora
Nuala

So- consensus is Nainsì isn't a pain to spell?? It looks like Nancy?

Nainsì Aoife Jane
Cora Jane

Hmmmm lots to think on. Not long until I go in to have the baby. Will update!

My daughter goes to school with an Etain (she doesn't use fadas for it), I think it's lovely. I do like Eimear/Emer (I know equal amounts). To me it's a boys name but I know Dara is getting a few girls nods.
Aoife is a lovely name but where I am, it's wild popular (like a 70s Joanne or Nichola). I do like Evangeline from your list - might borrow that for imaginary fourth daughter Grin.

FrizzBombDelight · 09/02/2017 12:38

They both sound lovely OP. My problem is myself and DH have a large Irish family with 50+ first cousins, every good name has been taken! Or so it feels like... I also like Cian and Ronan. Thank god we still have a few months to decide.

wigglesrock · 09/02/2017 12:41

Oh I missed your latest post - I'm a sloooow typer. I like Fiadh - it's my eldest daughters nickname, although from a different first name. Best of luck, very exciting - hopefully you'll be meeting her very soon and don't stress about the name, new baby cuddles to get first. Take care of yourself Brew.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 09/02/2017 12:44

What about
Labhaoise
Imelda
Dervla/Dearbhla
Saidbe
Liadan
Eithne
Siofra
Sibeal

Tokennamechanginglesbian · 09/02/2017 13:07

Use Aisling! (Ashling) It's one of my favourites.

Waterfeature · 09/02/2017 13:11

Finola
Honor
Siafra
Aibhlinn
Emer (sp?)
Brigid

2down1togo · 09/02/2017 13:16

If you like Aoife and he likes Eva and Ava how about the Irish spelling of one of these? Aoibhe (Eva) / Éabha (Ava)

MargotsDevil · 09/02/2017 13:22

Just to warn you if Clodagh is still a contender and you were thinking "Clo" as a nn - in German das Klo is the loo...

Scarydinosaurs · 09/02/2017 13:27

margot oh how funny! We'll make sure she doesn't learn German Grin

In all seriousness, I think Clodagh is out. I can't see myself changing my mind on it. I think you really have to love the name, don't you?

So hard to decide. DH doesn't like Irish names with REALLY tricky spellings. Is Fiadh going to pass his test? Unlikely. I could live with Fia. Looks a bit like Fifa. We're in SE, so then you have the Fear thing in the accent.

Can we all have a little pray that it's a boy, because at least that way the poor child will have a name!

LarkDescending · 09/02/2017 13:34

Rosanagh or Rosanna? Good luck today!

CakeRattleandRoll · 09/02/2017 13:49

Caitriona?

EliCon · 09/02/2017 15:23

Elaine is my recommendation and good luck!

Scarydinosaurs · 09/02/2017 15:33

No Rosanna as have Rose in siblings names...

DH home and vetoing everything new. What do you like? He says Nainsì. So think we're back to that.

Nainsì Jane? Does that 'scan'?

Should be going in soon, so should know shortly if all this angst was wasted and we have a boy, or if we need to start seriously talking about girl's names with a bit more urgency than he's currently exhibiting 😆
