What do you think of our boy & girls name?

Really love this name but had some really negative opinions. It's the only name we both like and I've set my heart on it. Am I setting him up for and lifetime of teasing?

Girls we have a few more options but I don't know which is my favourite;

Delilah
Ivy
Edith (nn Edie)

Thank you:)

What's the boys name?

Ivy is my preference for a girls name.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 08/01/2017 18:36

What's the boy's name?

Edie is my favourite from your girls list.

mrsC4 · 08/01/2017 18:37

I don't like any of the girls names sorry.

PurpleDaisies · 08/01/2017 18:37

Am I being dim? What's the boy's name?

I'm not keen on any of the girls names sorry.

BertrandRussell · 08/01/2017 18:38

Delilah both in the Bible and in the song do not have good associations.

I like Edith.

RaeSkywalker · 08/01/2017 18:39

What's the boy's name?

I like Edith. I also like Delilah but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to use it!

BackforGood · 08/01/2017 18:39

I do have to burst into sog, when I see the name Delilah... but perhaps that's just me ? Grin

The other two, to me, sound really 'old lady' names, so that means they are probably very fashionable now. Not so keen on 'Poison Ivy' though.

You need to tell us the boy's name, although, I suspect if you have to ask if you are setting him up for a lifetime of teasing, then you probably are.

Ivy for me.

MarmiteDoesYouGood · 08/01/2017 18:41

Love the boys name!

PurpleDaisies · 08/01/2017 18:42

How do you know marmite?!!

littlemissM92 · 08/01/2017 18:42

Ivy or edie adorable !

Happilymarried155 · 08/01/2017 18:48

Sorry! It's Rupert!

I love Delilah but didn't have the courage to suggest it to DH.
Of the other two I think I'd pick Edith.
Curious to see what the boy's name is!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/01/2017 18:52

I love Rupert. I wasn't brave enough to use it though.

Rufus?

Not keen on the girls names..

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 08/01/2017 18:56

Rupert is really dreadful. But I'd be polite and smile if someone told me that was their baby's name.

BertrandRussell · 08/01/2017 18:57

If you're not feeling brave enough to use it, think how much braver the child would have to be to live with it............

MarmiteDoesYouGood · 08/01/2017 19:00

Oh it's Rupert? I take it back! Don't love it!!

EssentialHummus · 08/01/2017 19:01

I'm not a fan of Rupert.

Wellitwouldbenice · 08/01/2017 19:03

I like Rupert and of the girl names I prefer Edith.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 08/01/2017 19:04

Classic name, but people will make instant assumptions of poshness.
If you love it don't let others put you off. You're not naming your DC to please others!

(Rupert Graves and Rupert Penry Jones, mmm).

MollyHuaCha · 08/01/2017 19:05

Rupert = nice
Ivy and Edith = nice
Delilah = no.

Happilymarried155 · 08/01/2017 19:08

It's such a love it or hate it name I think. I was all set to use it until someone openly told me how dreadful they thought it was and then it made me all emotional and doubt myself 😂😂

I suppose Delilah is that same, I did think if the song too! God naming children is so hard! Thanks everyone 😀

I like Ivy.
And I've always liked Rupert the Bear
No, honestly I do like Rupert and I know an adult Rupert though his name always gets abbreviated to Rupe.
