What do you think of our boy & girls name?

Really love this name but had some really negative opinions. It's the only name we both like and I've set my heart on it. Am I setting him up for and lifetime of teasing?

Girls we have a few more options but I don't know which is my favourite;

Delilah
Ivy
Edith (nn Edie)

Thank you:)

See I like Rupert, theoretically. But when he's 6 & in a class full of Kaidens, Jaydens, Callums, Connors, Bens, Thomases & Rhyses it will stand out a bit...

I wouldn't.

girlandboy · 08/01/2017 19:09

Sorry, this new app keeps posting twice!

Happilymarried155 · 08/01/2017 19:11

That's a good point midnight but I really dislike those kind of names as I see them so often in my line of work so I guess anything I choose would probably stand out.

I like Rupe as a shortening!

I also quite liked Seth? Just would really annoy me if people pronounced it Sef!

I don't like any of the names sorry. Assume Ivy and Edith are making a comeback as they are featured a lot on the threads on here but not to my taste.

Freeatlast2017 · 08/01/2017 19:17

I quite like Seth as it goes.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 08/01/2017 19:20

Seth is cool.

Bitlost · 08/01/2017 19:20

I love Rupert but I'm French so don't get all the associations and connotations. My British husband hates it.

I don't really like any of the girls' names, sorry.

Sophronia · 08/01/2017 19:41

I like Rupert and Delilah

Pluto30 · 08/01/2017 19:51

The only Rupert I know is a Great Dane, so I can't see it on a person. Blush

I don't like Delilah, and the Hey There Delilah and Delilah by Tom Jones songs are awful and creepy in nature. Also, Delilah has questionable Biblical connotations.

Love both Edith/Edie and Ivy. I'd choose Edith/Edie, purely because Ivy is massively moving up the ranks in popularity. I think it was one of the biggest increases in popularity over the last year, so would be wary of that. It may well end up the next Evie/Ava. Edie is gorgeous.

AlwaysTeaTime · 08/01/2017 19:54

I know a Rupert and I like it, it gets shortened to Ru.
Out of your girls names, it's got to be Edie- I love it! Not ivy, it's becoming really common and looks strange written down, and Delilah has bad connotations, and everyone will sing the song when they meet her

MrsDc7 · 08/01/2017 19:56

Ivy is beautiful. Rupert is okay but not my fave xx

kmini · 08/01/2017 20:34

Have a friend Rupert. He absolutely hates his name and his friends are mildly posh. I think he finds it quite difficult in everyday life and with work. Putting that aside, I think it's a lovely sounding name.

empirerecordsrocked · 08/01/2017 20:37

I bloody love Rupert, great name.

Chocolatepudding85 · 08/01/2017 20:46

Delilah is a beautiful name! Her friends won't get the Tom jones ref. Her friends' parents might, but that's ok Smile. It was on my list.

Also like Ivy.

I have two friends called Rupert. Honestly, i don't like it - but that doesn't matter - if you love it, you should go for it. I don't think either of my friends were ever teased.

I didn't grow up with them though - I met them as adults. If they'd gone to my school (non-cosmopolitan area, comprehensive, definitely not posh) they would have been teased. Depends where you live.

One of my Rupert friends is smoking hot. He's enough to change anyone's mind about the name! (Think posh but beautiful surfer-type.)

BackforGood · 08/01/2017 21:49

Rupert is awful, sorry.

EmmaC78 · 08/01/2017 21:54

I am not keen on any of them tbh.

MikeUniformMike · 08/01/2017 21:54

Delilah is fab. I love the song (despite the unpleasant bits).
Rupert is a bear. How about Rufus?

monsterbookofty · 08/01/2017 22:00

I like Rupert. I think of Rupert Grint.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/01/2017 14:20

I like your girls names OP, but dislike Rupert.

Twooter · 09/01/2017 14:24

I Like Seth and Edie. Not the others.

Blossomdeary · 09/01/2017 14:28

Rupert - yes
Delilah - No
All the others - fine

Staranise123 · 09/01/2017 14:49

But when he's 6 & in a class full of Kaidens, Jaydens, Callums, Connors, Bens, Thomases & Rhyses it will stand out a bit...

Rupert could also be in a class full of Sebastians, Rufuses, Henrys, Andrews or any other name....

In what way does Rupert stand out..Confused?

Staranise123 · 09/01/2017 14:50

Rupert - like it

Ivy - ok

Delilah - don't like

Edith - ok

Bodypumpaddict · 09/01/2017 15:23

Think all your names are fab Smile
