I am pregnant with my first child, I don't know if I am having a boy or girl at this point. My favourite name for a girl is Posy. I also love Peony but someone very near me used it so I won't. My OH hates Posy and there is no way he'll ever agree to using it if we have a girl unfortunately. Is it really that awful? I like flower names in general, Violet, Rose and Daisy are all lovely but I feel Posy is more original and less common.

I'm not a fan, makes me think of ring a ring of roses (which is about plague) and an an insult my teenage sister uses about other girls who she thinks are fake (I.e she's really posey, like always posing and flirting). I generally prefer stronger names though so it's a all just personal preference. Rose is lovely

I have a Josephine who goes by Posey now (18 months) but can choose something different as she gets older. Would that be a compromise? It's a common nn for Josephine

Posy is sweet on a little girl but too cutesy for an adult in my opinion. It can however be a nickname for Josephine, you could go for that as a compromise.

I like Posy (have seen it spelled Posie too).

I also know someone who called their little girl Ivy- not one I would have chosen initially but actually works really well.

I love it! Haven't thought about that name since reading ballet shoes.
Baby Posy sounds adorable.

You could always give her a more traditional 'grown up' middle name maybe one your husband picks incase she ever wants to change it round when she's older.

Posy just reminds me of the plague song I'm afraid.

Reminds me of The Flumps. You're probably too young to remember that though.

Am surprised by the Posy love. I really don't like it. Agree with the plague reference. And makes me think of selfie posing.

I know a Posy short for Rosanna if your husband might be persuaded to use it as a nickname for something longer and you weren't tempted by Josephine? I do find it a bit cutesy, but there's always Posy Simmonds to counteract that! (I love Ballet Shoes to, but always remember how Posy is introduced "Her name is Posy. Unfortunate, but true."

I love Posy,but Ballet Shoes associations rather than Ring O'Roses associations for me too.
On the other hand that wouldn't people using Rose or Rosie as a name so why should it stop them using Posy?

I'm less sure that the Ballet Shoes link is a positive. I can't get past the 'Her name is Posy. Unfortunate but true.'

But I like Rosie and Daisy, in a similar vein.

Posy is just so babyish.

Posy, Pootle and Perkin Flump. I loved them, da da, da da, da da da da, daa daa da da da.

I wanted Peony but DH put the kybosh on that so I ended up with an Iris.
