DD1 is due in early February and we've whittled our name shortlist down to the following but chronic indecision has now set in and I feel like I'm going name-blind! Please help!

Middle name would likely be either Emily or Christina (both family names).

Margot
Edith (nn Edie)
Ava
Daisy
Hazel
Lily

Thanks :)!

I like daisy or lily.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/12/2016 13:07

I love Margot and Edie. But not Edith.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/12/2016 13:08

Daisy

Artandco · 06/12/2016 13:10

Hazel or Margot

Hazel Emilie Christina
Margot Tina Emmeline

Friolero · 06/12/2016 13:14

Margot - really lovely
Edith (nn Edie) - I like this, especially the nn Edie
Ava - not keen
Daisy - nice for a child, but I don't think it really works for grown-ups
Hazel - quite like this, but prefer Margot and Edith from your list.
Lily - nice but very over-used (at least where I am!)

SoOverPeppa123 · 06/12/2016 13:28

I love all of them apart from edith but love edie.

Darthvadersmuuuum · 06/12/2016 13:44

Margot and Edith

Sophronia · 06/12/2016 14:02

I like Margot, Edith and Hazel best.

Gruffalosfriend · 06/12/2016 14:05

Christina and Edith are lovely

I don't like the non French pronunciation of Mar-gott, which is used in many Germanic and Scandinavian countries

CakeRattleandRoll · 06/12/2016 14:08

Margot is my favourite.

Loyly · 06/12/2016 14:10

Margot

SirNiallDementia · 06/12/2016 14:10

Love the name Margot!

Lily, Daisy and Ava all mega popular if that bothers you?

HeyRoly · 06/12/2016 14:15

Ava, Lily and Daisy are really popular, if that kind of thing bothers you. Oh, just realised that Sir said exactly the same thing.

Edie is getting popular.

Margot and Hazel are pretty and unusual. I like Hazel especially.

ChocoChou · 06/12/2016 14:20

Margot!

Cosmicglitterpug · 06/12/2016 14:26

Edith

Abetes · 06/12/2016 14:30

I like them all - good list! However, there are loads of Daisys and Lilys here.

thedragonflyinn · 06/12/2016 14:44

Like Margot, loathe Hazel

JClarke7 · 06/12/2016 14:48

Thanks for all your messages! It's so nice to hear some outsider opinions after we were beginning to lose the will...

I must admit that we were a little concerned that Lily, Daisy and Ava were very popular but I do love the name Daisy in particular, while Ava is probably top of DH's list.

Margot - this has been a front-runner all the way through the pregnancy (with the middle name Emily) but we seem to have got cold feet for some reason. I think perhaps because people seem to either love or hate it, and a few family members haven't seemed too keen. It's great to see that it's a popular choice on here though!

Edith - we both love Edie but DH isn't sure on Edith and I wasn't sure on Edie as a stand alone name...

Hazel - I love the name, my concern here is that both DH and I are very fair and I'm not sure that Hazel on a blonde-haired girl would suit? This might just be my over-thinking again though tbh!

Thanks again all - please do keep the opinions or alternative suggestions coming :)

Ava and Margot for me

Dontrocktheboat · 06/12/2016 14:52

Lily, Ava and Daisy are ridiculously popular, especially the first two.

I like Hazel and Edith best from your choices. Not keen on Margot.

Dontrocktheboat · 06/12/2016 14:54

I think Hazel is fine with blonde hair. (Things that are not would be names like Ebony!)

SorenaJ · 06/12/2016 16:31

Love Lily and Hazel

Pemba · 06/12/2016 16:39

Daisy is nice. So are Lily and Ava, but there are so many little girls with these names currently, she would probably be one of several at school.

I really love your middle names Emily and Christina. Any chance of swapping them around and using them for first names?

JustSpeakSense · 06/12/2016 16:41

Ava and daisy

EverySongbirdSays · 06/12/2016 16:50

I don't think Daisy ages well. I don't think it works well with either middle name.

Every other little girl I know of right now is called Ava, Eve/Evie/Eva or Amelia/Amelie

Lily I'm not a fan of, which leaves :

  1. Margot
  2. Hazel you hardly EVER hear Hazel
  3. Edie (which I love but is very similar to Evie)
  1. Margot
