I've gone off my 3 month old's name... Help!

My 3 month old daughter has a name that isn't that common (isn't in the top 100) which I like. I never shorten it, but don't care what other people do, if they used the known shortenings.

There's a NN I honestly never thought of, they're saying it to take the piss (family) but go on to say how she'll get it all her life anyway, so they are starting her young

I'm thinking of changing it to Grace, I know that's popular, but there's no offensive NNs, is there?

I know two adult Gabriellas who are Gabby/Gabi and a teenage Gabriella who is mostly Gabriella but occasionally Gigi at home.

Neer heard anyone being called Gobby. Don't sweat it!

Beautiful name and I've never heard this awful nickname despite living a long time. Besides, what's this stupid 'getting her used to it' shite? She's a few weeks old, she doesn't even know her real name yet

Sorry Mark's such a fool OP Tell him that and also tell him that nicknames evolve naturally over time and generally come from the peer group not a nasty minded decision by a narky relative.

My DCs are universally known by nicknames, but they don't relate to their given names at all anyway.

Gabriella is a beautiful name. I'd never think to call a Gabriella Gobby unless she really was gobby. Your family are being unreasonable and dickish. Don't change her gorgeous name just because some people are knobs, tell them every time they say it that you don't want her called that. I have a name that many people tell me is a lovely name but due to nicknames and mispronunciations (as a shy child I was always having to draw attention to myself to correct adults) I learned to hate it from a very young age. Don't let them give her a complex about her name.
