Hello All,
So baby is three days old and we've just decided on a name, but are now struggling with the spelling!
Any insights/considerations?

I love the way Ruben sounds, but not sure which spelling to go for,

Ruben
Reuben
Rueben

Reuben

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 25/09/2016 16:54

Reuben - that's the Biblical spelling, the best known and the one most likely to be perceived as normal/correct.

TalkAllAboutIt · 25/09/2016 16:55

Reuben - though DS has a Rubén in his class at school.

MrsHathaway · 25/09/2016 16:55

Rueben is just wrong.

Reuben is the usual spelling.

Ruben is ok but risks being mispronounced or muddled with other names.

So ... Reuben!

Congratulations on your lovely newborn! BearFlowers Do give him a good head-sniff from me Grin

Loyly · 25/09/2016 16:57

Definitely Reuben.

jenniuol · 25/09/2016 17:03

Also agree Reuben. Lovely name. Congratulations!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 25/09/2016 17:05

I'd say Reuben is the most obvious spelling and therefore I'd use that. Congratulations!!

GrouchyKiwi · 25/09/2016 17:06

Agree with Reuben. He won't have to tell everyone how to spell his name if you use that one.

Foxtato · 25/09/2016 17:07

Reuben - Lovely name and congrats!

maitaimojito · 25/09/2016 17:10

strawberrypenguin · 25/09/2016 17:18

Reuben. Lovely name OP

blueskyinmarch · 25/09/2016 17:21

Reuben - because that is the correct spelling.

BoxofSnails · 25/09/2016 17:28

Congratulations!! Reuben - it's an Old Testament name and that's how it's spelt - why change it. Lovely boys name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/09/2016 17:29

Reuben

JasperDamerel · 25/09/2016 17:30

Reuben.

GoNorthDarren · 25/09/2016 18:03

Reuben. I have never seen the other spellings before so I think if you used them people might misspell a lot.

Surf25 · 25/09/2016 18:09

Reuben

Dizzydodo · 25/09/2016 18:11

Reuben

CordeliaFrost · 25/09/2016 18:40

Reuben because that's the usual English spelling.

Rueben is a misspelling.

Ruben is the Hispanic spelling.

OldLagNewName · 25/09/2016 18:42

It'll get misspelled whichever you choose, so I'd go for whichever you prefer.

chinlo · 25/09/2016 19:03

It'll get misspelled whichever you choose, so I'd go for whichever you prefer

Except that, as shown by this thread, 99% of people would spell it Reuben (the correct way). So it'll get misspelled much more if you spell it any other way.

LetitiaCropleysCookbook · 25/09/2016 19:05

Congrats! definitely Reuben

Onenerfwarfrombreakdown · 25/09/2016 19:06

My friends DS has this name, I think it's great! Congrats on your new squishy snuggly baby boy!
