Pegatty
Peggarty
Pegarty
Pegetty
Peggotty.....

First name for a girl. Will be shortened to Peg or Peggy.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't really understand the question...

Is it a real name? If so, how is it spelled?

Or is it a made up name? If so, you can spell it however you want, can't you?

augustusdecimus · 16/08/2016 21:29

The only reference I could find is:

"The Peggotty family are fictional characters in Charles Dickens's 1850 novel David Copperfield"

So I guess that's how I would spell it.

Zippidydoodah · 16/08/2016 21:29

Never heard of that name! But agree with the pp.

(PS. Just call her Peggy!)

Dontrocktheboat · 16/08/2016 21:30

Peggity. It was the name of my parents' VW beetle in early eighties. I don't think it works that well as a child's name though....

hollyisalovelyname · 16/08/2016 21:30

No!
Peggy or Peg is usually short for Margaret.

neonrainbow · 16/08/2016 21:30

I've never heard of it. Id probably spell it Pegaty or Peggaty but i really don't like it. I know you didn't ask for opinions :)

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 16/08/2016 21:30

Yes, sort of made up, just wondered which looked nicer/'correct'.

OP posts:
Dontrocktheboat · 16/08/2016 21:31

How about Margaret nickname Peggy (as is usual i think)

TwentyCups · 16/08/2016 21:31

I would honestly just call her Peggy

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/08/2016 21:31

I love Peggy! It is so due a revival.

Not sure I'd use any of your choices, they sound made up.

I'd use Margaret or just Peggy by itself.

SuckingEggs · 16/08/2016 21:31

They all look silly. And made up.

SuckingEggs · 16/08/2016 21:32

Peggy is fine though.

JinkxMonsoon · 16/08/2016 21:32

None of them look correct because it's a horrible name for a girl. Or a boy, to be honest.

RiverTam · 16/08/2016 21:32

Isn't it the name of a Borrower? Or did I make that up. It sounds made up, whatever. Just go for Margaret nn Peggy.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 16/08/2016 21:33

Peggatty, but why? Get out of my pub. Doesn't even sound nice to me, sorry.

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 16/08/2016 21:33

(we already have a Maggie (not shortened))

OP posts:
augustusdecimus · 16/08/2016 21:34

I would go with just Peggy, tbh.

orangebird69 · 16/08/2016 21:34

I would spell it Peggarty. But it's bloody awful.

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 16/08/2016 21:35

Arrietty is the borrowers name (dh likes this now!)

OP posts:
hownottofuckup · 16/08/2016 21:35

Peggarty, think it sort of is a name already.

DramaAlpaca · 16/08/2016 21:37

Peggotty is the correct spelling of the surname. The other spellings just look wrong.

Sorry, but it's a very ugly name.

Just call her Peggy! Or even better, Margaret nn Peggy.

soundsystem · 16/08/2016 21:38

Peggoty.

In the 1980's kids series Puddle Lane, Timothy and Tessa Catchamouse's mother is called Peggoty, "but everyone calls her Pegs".

(My DD is currently obsessed with these books).

squoosh · 16/08/2016 21:38

Clara Peggotty from David Copperfield was referred to as Pegotty in the novel. She's a lovely character but I wouldn't name a kid after her surname!

Out2pasture · 16/08/2016 21:40

Some of your choices rhyme with spaghetti.....
Peggy is fine, the other stuff not so

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/08/2016 21:40

Don't think you can have Maggie and Peggy OP, they're the same name. (Or from the same name)
