Really struggling for a boys name for DC1, please share your thoughts on Rufus? I like it but worried may could go off it in time...I am very indecisive!

Not to my taste but I've heard of a few so others clearly like it.

Good luck choosing!

Vixxfacee · 29/06/2016 21:49

Doggish

ToffeeForEveryone · 29/06/2016 21:57

That's a dog name.

HarlettOScara · 29/06/2016 21:59

Only if you're expecting to give birth to a spaniel.

ScarletForYa · 29/06/2016 21:59

Yeah, that's a dogs name I'm afraid.

Atlas15 · 29/06/2016 22:00

Automatically thought that's a dog name before I read the pp

Bewilderedandbewitched · 29/06/2016 22:01

I really like it!

rufus5 · 29/06/2016 22:01

Woof! Grin

whifflesqueak · 29/06/2016 22:02

well.

I love it.

but apparently I'm in the minority there.

Imknackeredzzz · 29/06/2016 22:03

Harlettoscara- I laughed out loud! Grin

SucculentSoul · 29/06/2016 22:04

I like it. I called my cat it.

Ringadingdingdong22 · 29/06/2016 22:07

This was on our list for a while. Didnt go with it in the end as there was a dog in the family called Rufus. Still think it is great though.

bouncyball16 · 29/06/2016 22:10

I also like Oscar, maybe I am just a fan of canine names Confused

I really like Rufus.

Heratnumber7 · 29/06/2016 22:45

I think only if he has ginger hair, because that's what it means.

julfin · 29/06/2016 23:02

I think "red-headed". I like the name. My husband thinks "dog". He vetoed it for our boy.

Oscar is also a really nice name. Apparently v popular nowadays, if that bothers you.

Shropitlikeitshot · 29/06/2016 23:04

LOVE Rufus.

For me I'm torn between Rufus, Ralph and Rupert. Not sure why they're all R's. And no idea on a girl.

mountaintoclimb · 29/06/2016 23:05

A dogs name

GinnyMcginface · 29/06/2016 23:10

We have five sons and a Rufus among them. When he was born for about five minutes people talked of dogs but now they just associate it with our Roo. Lovely name but clearly I am biased.

Misnomer · 29/06/2016 23:18

Rufus is a lovely name.

Surely dogs are called all kinds of thing? It's not like you have Fido and Rover on the shortlist. Our dog is called a very popular girls name (followed by the middle names 'Ninja-Girl' because the kids named her) that is also really popular for dogs, it seems. It would still be a lovely name for a non-canine!

littlepeas · 29/06/2016 23:58

Meh. Toby and Oscar are also dog's names, but that hasn't affected their popularity. If you like it, you should go for it. I rather like Rufus - it is cute on a little boy, but somehow rather debauched (in a good way) on a grown man.

littlepeas · 29/06/2016 23:59

Also, my dog is called a fairly popular Welsh name. Any name can be a dog's name.

FrikkaDilla · 30/06/2016 00:11

who let the dog out

ow ow ow

Shropitlikeitshot · 30/06/2016 07:02

I'd call my son Doug in a heartbeat. Alas the dog came first.

Having said that DH thinks we should still call it that. But that's a whole other thread.

fionadal · 30/06/2016 21:53

I think it's a lovely name!
