What do you do when your partner's favourite name is Jayden...?

I'm not knocking the name Jayden, I actually don't hate it. However, the name gets too much grief, so I'd never want to use it!

DH is insisting; in all fairness, I named DS1 (DH picked the middle name) - we said we would do it the other way around, this time Sad I wish I hadn't!

Jayden and DS1's name, just does not go. I wouldn't want to use Jayden anyway. Also, as I'm picking the middle, he'd be Jayden Oliver... Honestly, I could cope with Oliver Jayden (even though it's not what I'd like) but DH is saying it isn't fair! Blush help!!!

Vixxface, if I recall correctly, you made a racist comment aimed at white middle-class women on this site.

Don't do it. You know in your heart it's wrong. Jayden/Kayden/Baden. Just say no.

Right, he is happy with Aidan (yaaay!) but if we go with a J middle name, so he can call him AJ (not so yay!) oh well, I think that's a pretty done deal? Yeah?

I know Aiden is a liked spelling, but I think we'll stick to the original Aidan. Elliot and Aidan - I'm so happy!!!

Elliot Finley & Aidan J...

Not sure what to pick, it's my choice though SmileSmileSmile

Aidan James is lovely, I like Jacob too.

I do like the sound of Aidan Joshua too - I'm going to keep searching! Smile

It was an unpleasant comment and quite offensive towards/about a significant proportion of posters on MN.

Aidan John or Aidan Joseph?

Report
JoJoS123 · 27/03/2016 16:37

Ooo, Joseph sounds really good! So does John, but it's very old fashioned to my ears!

Aidan Joseph S...

I do like the 3 syllables in Joshua though.

Aidan Joshua S...

Are there anymore 3 syllable ones?

Jayden is one of those names that mumsnet Disapproves of, it belongs to badly behaved offspring of chavs who will never do well and will have an ASBO as soon as they turn 10. It's a load of bollocks. If you really don't like the name then tell your DH and come up with alternatives but don't let Mumsnet influence you.
I'm not keen on the name myself but I know of a couple and they are lovely, their name has no connection with their personality.

Hmm, now this bit is rather hard.

What J would you use?

Aidan James? I do like it...

Absolutely and there are numerous delightful Jaydens, Mackenzies, Maddisons and Tyler-Lee.

However, names are about you - who you are, where you come from, when you were born.

I would find it odd if for example I had to call my baby boy Mohammed. There's nothing wrong with the name but it's one with close associations with Islam and since I am not Muslim it would feel strange.

Jayden would also feel strange because it's just not a name I'd ever pick.

My mum died when I was young but I couldn't name a daughter after her as it was one of those popular in the 40s/50s names so would feel very out of place.

What I'm saying is simply if you feel uncomfortable with a name for any reason is just not the right name.

I'm obviously on a similar wavelength to ThroughThickAndThin Smile
