Can I name my child after a vegetable?

My DH has a list of traditional names he wants to call our child. Things like Mary or Sarah if it's a girl and John or Michael if it's a boy.
I've talked to my friends about it and they all seem to think this is a good idea but I have my own list of names that my DH thinks I got rid of.
What I want to know is; are these names good names for a child? So far I've got: Endive, Guava, Pepper, Radish and Zucchini. I like them because they sound exotic and unique.
What do you think?

I'm noticing a few people believe the thing about "nasty PMs" and I would just like to clarify that the so called nasty part was me trying to call a truce and admitting that everyone has their own opinion. Please respect that I don't want anyone to be hurt by some thread on some website on the internet.

MNHQ will decide if the PM was nasty.

Yes they will. I have taken the time to look back on it and I'm happy to say I don't think anything will come of it as I made sure to be as polite and respectful as I could.
I think all of this has gone too far and really people get too angry about vegetables ;)

Butternut Squash.

Then again, whether or not to hyphenate?

Butternut-Squash or Butternut Squash. It's a dilemma.

Annieonamapleleaf could it be that you're not understanding the OP's irony (Irony (noun) - British straight-faced unfunny humour, so you're never quite sure if the OP is actually joking or genuinely batty).

I'd go for funky spelling too. Oba'Jean? Koll--Lee Flower? Monjtoot?

ComelyHunt, those names are quite clever. Cornelious and Cressida in particular.

I honestly thought this whole thread was lighthearted fun. What am I missing?

OP, this is a weird thread. I don't understand why you posted. If you listed some names then people could comment on them but to just state that you want to name a baby after a vegetable is pointless unless you are trying and failing to be funny.

Haffdonga no, even us simple minded Canadians are intelligent enough to determine the difference between irony and a cowardly attack via PM. I have read and re-read my posts on both threads and I can't see why either warranted a PM from the OP.

I actually know an American mum in her late 20s called Karissa and her brother is Kale. Yes, Kale not Kyle.

I met Stewart Lee once and he couldn't understand my DP's accent and thought he was called Kale.
