Darcie or Hayleigh?

Please don't tell me that I'm trying to be unique... I'm not - I just prefer these spellings. Darcie or Hayleigh? That's all I'm looking for

I dislike them equally.

Both fairly trendy/faddy and little to choose between them.

Just personal preference though. I don't think either is glaringly awful, just not my kind of name.

I know that's not your preferred spelling, but it looks all wrong that way.

The spellings may come across as trendy, but the names go way back!

If I had to choose, I'd go Darcie.

I'm 100% not having any other spellings... Please don't suggest them...

I'm not looking for opinions on the spellings... I like Darcy, but DH sees it as a male name, so I have to compromise...

I prefer Darcie. Hayleigh would have to spell their name out every single time and everyone will spell it wrong and assume you spelt it wrong. Darcie will have their name spelt wrong some of the time but not every time.

I really don't like Hayley - Hailey at a push, but still like Hayleigh more...

Spelling a name out isn't much of an issue... I've had to my whole life and I really don't mind!

I wouldn't have any variation of Hayley if it isn't spelled Hayley as it will be so annoying to have to spell it out every single time.

Cross post but I stand by my opinion. I would annoy me if I had an obscurely spelled name.

You can't ask for opinions to only be formed along one paradigm. When you choose spellings like this which are trendy and divisive, people will react to them. Really, if you want genuine reactions, this is what those names evoke.

It's easy to pick either name, there isn't a need to comment on the spellings - I have asked 100 times and if you feel the need to comment on the spellings, don't comment at all...

I have to spell out my name. Its so fucking annoying. You might like the spelling but your daughter won't thank you.

You don't know what my daughter will like and not like... My other daughter is Madelyn and she doesn't mind...

But the names, as I said, have nothing to choose between them. Not classical, normal sounding, trendy and faddy. There's little to say about them in comparison to each other. Just pick the one you like most or the one that suits the baby. The only thing to comment on IS the silly spelling tbh. Your opening post anticipated what you knew would happen.

Is there really a need to grin about my daughter's name? She's named and that's her name - I couldn't care what her teacher's think... They tell me how much of a pleasure she is to teach, so I'm pretty sure they're not fussed what her name is.
