Heard today:-

Spring-rose

At the doctors the other day was deliah-rose. Thought it was a misspell for Delilah but then maybe it's Delia?

And the when I worked in a nursery there was a little boy called deneil. Not too bad you say, till you knew his older brother was called Neil Hmm

Disney.

Yup.

TwistInMySobriety · 15/11/2015 11:27

You're right, Fanta is a common name in West Africa, teaaddict.

lastqueenofscotland · 15/11/2015 14:04

No word of a lie here

La-a

Pronounced Ladasha ....

nannyj · 15/11/2015 14:06

Disney
Otter

Jw35 · 15/11/2015 14:20

I know an ocean with a sister blossom. A toddler called toffee (boy) and a toddler CJ (boy)

TwistInMySobriety · 15/11/2015 19:12

Pff lastqueen that is the oldest urban legend in the book.

UterusUterusGhali · 15/11/2015 20:34

N-a, however, is real.

Kpo58 · 15/11/2015 21:03

I've come across
October
Kitty
Petrol
Telford
Lance

WanderingNotLost · 16/11/2015 00:50

These are the most bonkers ones I've encountered in real life:

Clark and Kent (Brothers)
Summer and Storm (Sisters- and yes I know Summer is a fairly regular name)
Sharky. And one of his middle names is George. I shit you not.
Candida
Saxon
Milan and Perla Valentino (Sisters)
Somerset (boy)
Hepzibah
Barrylee

That's all I can remember for now.

WanderingNotLost · 16/11/2015 00:50

Oh yes and a Lancelot

WanderingNotLost · 16/11/2015 00:52

Got another- Romany. As in gypsy. Knew her as a little girl

FattyNinjaOwl · 16/11/2015 02:33

I know a romanie. She's known as Ronnie.

BirdintheWings · 16/11/2015 08:58

Plenty of Kitties round here, Kpo!

Wandering, does your Somerset have a sibling named after a smallish and not obviously attractive bird?

thefudgeling · 16/11/2015 10:11

Sunny-jim
Zebedee
Rainbow
Afriqnmn (pronounced African moon).

3luckystars · 16/11/2015 12:06

There was a family on the TV and the youngest was called "Babigail" I think that was the most unusual.

I knew a guy called Dualta (dool-ta) and another fella called Aeneas (anus), they were in the same school.

3luckystars · 16/11/2015 12:08

I have to say Fanta is my absolute favourite so far. Remember the ad "Fanta, FANTA a bottle of fun!" what a great name.

StDogolphin · 16/11/2015 16:21

Faunia
Zillah

LonestarStateOfMind · 17/11/2015 12:43

Aeneas is not anus as suggested up thread Shock

It's more like an-nay-as. I am particularly fond of it myself Smile

Lweji · 17/11/2015 12:46

Aeneas
Is a very classical name. Not usual, ok.
And definitely not pronounced anus. ..

BirdintheWings · 17/11/2015 12:47

Our Latin teacher pronounced it more like 'Ee-NEE-us', usually with Pious tacked on the front.

Not a good advert for it, really.

JasperDamerel · 17/11/2015 13:01

I can't really post the unusual names I know, because if I listed, say, Kestrel, Zebedee, Artemis, Legolas, Tintagel and Sophonisba, it would be pretty easy to narrow me down to one of a handful of people who knew people with those names.

poppetina · 17/11/2015 13:10

Denim
Jethro
I'm sure there must be more. Some on this thread are amazing!

BirdintheWings · 17/11/2015 13:10

Do you think so, Jasper? When I say 'we know someone called Starling/Spinoza/Nivek', what I mean is we are Facebook friends with their parents or our kids briefly shared a school class with them or met them on a Scout trip, so it covers half the country.

Lweji · 17/11/2015 13:14

Jethro
Is not unusual. It's lovely Gibbs' name. Grin

Babbafish · 17/11/2015 14:04

Mannix and Hudson!!!
