Rowan - For a girl??

Hello,

My OH and I are expecting a little girl and are really struggling with names. We have a top 10 but only 1 really sticks out.

How would you react meeting a little girl called Rowan? We both love the name but not sure how well it fits a girl?

I know lots of Rowans, 2 girls and 4 boys, so it seems quite unisex.

Love it. Know a beautiful successful woman in her early 30s with it.
She has an obviously feminine middle name she can use if she wants people to know her sex - eg on a business card.

I know a boy Rohan and a girl Rowan. I like it

Floggingmolly · 15/09/2015 18:15

I prefer it as a girls name. It's really lovely.

ExBallerina · 15/09/2015 18:17

I think it's a great girl's name

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 15/09/2015 18:18

Beautiful!

IndomitabIe · 15/09/2015 18:21

I love it! (Though the Rowan I know is a grown-up man, as is Rohan).

Reminds me of a girl I met years ago called Cedar.

(Think I'm going to put both on my list!)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 15/09/2015 18:21

Don't like it sorry. No reason just not to my taste

Blackcloudsbrightsky · 15/09/2015 18:23

I like it for a girl. It sounds feminine to me - don't like it for a boy at all.

Sophronia · 15/09/2015 20:29

I love it on a girl, it's much nicer as a girls name imo.

LemonPied · 15/09/2015 20:30

It's a lovely name. I see it as very unisex.

Doje · 15/09/2015 20:32

I like it! Also know a (grown up) Rhoen, which I like too.

Varya · 15/09/2015 20:32

Rowanna?

SmugairleRoin · 15/09/2015 20:32

I like it on a girl, not a fan of it on a boy at all.

BonnieBlueButler · 15/09/2015 20:36

I taught a lovely girl called Rowan. She was very confident and happy in herself. Her name really suited her. It's a great name.

caitlinohara · 15/09/2015 20:37

I used to work with a girl called Rowan. I think she was Welsh. It's a kind of tree innit? I like it, in fact it sounds nicer for a girl than a boy. Do it!

tyaca · 15/09/2015 20:38

Love it

whatdoIget · 15/09/2015 20:38

Love it for a boy or a girl

BoskyCat · 15/09/2015 20:39

I love it, and I really love the tree, so I'd use it. But we know one and it's pronounced row-an to rhyme with "cow" -an, which I don't like so much.

MaisieDotes · 15/09/2015 20:42

Hi jelly Smile

I have a Rowan, love the name. He happens to be a boy but I like it for a girl too.

Hassled · 15/09/2015 20:43

I think of it much more as a female name than a male one. It's lovely.

anythingicando · 15/09/2015 20:43

I love it and also see it as a very unisex name.

reindeesandchristmastrees · 15/09/2015 22:51

Love it!!! I know a nearly 5 yr old girl Rowan - the berries on Rowan trees look lovely at the moment but not as beautiful as her x

Rowboat · 15/09/2015 23:11

I have a Rowan (girl) so maybe a bit biased but I think it's beautiful.

BimbleBombleBee · 15/09/2015 23:58

I'm afraid I think it's really downmarket on a girl. On par with Morgan wince.
