So, our new arrival is weeks away and I am becoming obsessed with the popularity of the names on our short list... Looking at the latest ONS statistics I'm struck by how it doesn't particularly reflect the names I hear a lot, for example I know no Amelias or Jacks but multiple Irises and Laurences. I imagine it's partially down to geography (I'm in London) but I'd be really interested to know what names you come across a lot among babies/ small children.

Old lady & old man names are starting to be heard of a bit, but not on any huge scale.

We may be a bit far from London for that Wink.

My dd has a name on many of these lists as being popular for under 5's but with a different but still classic spelling, based on my fathers nationality. She's 10 and the only one we knew until 4 were born in our circle 3 years later. It wasn't even in the top 50 names the year she was born, it just took off a few years later. You really can't tell what will happen, you've just hot to go with a name and hope for the best.
