We have chosen the name Luna for our baby girl, but some friends said it sounds too posh?!?

I'd say it was fairly mainstream.

Devora · 26/08/2015 23:16

I wouldn't have thought it was too posh, no. But maybe I'm just too posh meself.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 26/08/2015 23:17

Sounds the opposite to me to be honest

mrstweefromtweesville · 26/08/2015 23:18

Me too. Really, not posh at all.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/08/2015 23:20

Definitely not posh.

mabythesea · 26/08/2015 23:20

Luna's not at all posh!

Radiatorvalves · 26/08/2015 23:22

I'm not hugely keen on it, but a French friend has chosen it for her baby. They are normal and not posh! Don't know any othe Lunas.

If you like it, go for it. I'd be more worried about nicknames.

Babylove2015 · 26/08/2015 23:28

I have never thought nor heard of Luna sounding posh. It's just an average name.

ihavenonameonhere · 26/08/2015 23:29

Luna lovegood comes to mind

manicinsomniac · 26/08/2015 23:30

No, I don't think it sound posh.

I quite like it but being called Loony at school is a certainty, I'd imagine, so I wouldn't use it.

3rdSymphony · 26/08/2015 23:35

Quite the reverse, I would have said.

TremoloGreen · 26/08/2015 23:42

I like it - not posh, maybe a wee bit hippy-ish? I'm a hippy Grin

howtorebuild · 26/08/2015 23:45

It's a football's WAG name, The Beckham's wanted to use it, then too many football acquaintances used it.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 26/08/2015 23:46

No. Not posh at all. I'd expect unkind people to have said the opposite.

ClearBlueWater · 26/08/2015 23:53

It's nice - more 'hippy' than posh?

But she will get LoonyLuna / LunaLovegood at school, sadly.

But, don't listen to me, I very nearly called ds Ptolemy, which is also fab but a gift for bullies.... Grin

Tiggeryoubastard · 26/08/2015 23:55

No, the opposite of posh.

SuckingEggs · 26/08/2015 23:56

Not posh.

CockwombleJeff · 27/08/2015 00:02

Not posh at all - the opposite I think.

Your DC will be called "loony" at some point.

Sophronia · 27/08/2015 00:05

Not posh, I'd agree with those who said it's the opposite of posh.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 27/08/2015 00:12

We had a Luna pram.

I think it's a hippy name. That's a good thing.

Paddletonio · 27/08/2015 00:26

I think it's a "hippy" name if anything and is IMO fairly class-neutral.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 27/08/2015 00:34

My mum says the definition of a "posh" name (or rather, a classy name) is that it has been used by royalty. As we've never had a Queen Luna, I think you're fine.

Will her brother be called Jim? ;-)

WanderingTrolley1 · 27/08/2015 00:35

Doesn't sound posh, at all.

Canyouforgiveher · 27/08/2015 00:36

it is hippy/alternative/modern/want a different name. not posh.

I kind of like it.

Noobylola · 27/08/2015 03:00

Really hippy, not posh. Posh is like Elizabeth or Catherine, royalty names. Luna is nice but fairly 'middle class grow our own veg.'
