Primrose - nearly decided!

I started a thread about Primrose, Daphne and Bluebell and most of you preferred Primrose.
So.... hit me with everything you think about this name.
Would it be easy to live with at school? Is it too twee? What's your favourite nickname?
Do you know any that like their names?

I'm actually quite a reserved person and not one to go for a 'whacky' name, I just really love it. Equally, I don't want to lumber my dd with a limiting name so want honest opinions, I can take it!

Grim and twee. Sorry.

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 17/08/2015 20:49

It's not for me. But that's the joy of life, everyone has different tastes and I wouldn't leave it to a forum of strangers to name my babies!!

fabuLou · 17/08/2015 20:49

I love Primrose, beautiful name. Nn Rose or Primmy? Bluebell is equally nice but I
Instantly think Geri Halliwell.

Don't like Daphne. Have you considered Posey?

AmysTiara · 17/08/2015 20:50

She might be able to carry off the name but if my mum had called me Primrose I would have changed my name. I'm sorry but it's too twee for me.

pinkje · 17/08/2015 20:50

As long as your surname is not Hill.

HoggleHoggle · 17/08/2015 20:51

I like it and would consider it if I had a dd.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2015 20:52

Here are some primroses. They are beautiful, not twee, and so is the name.

Amy - that's what I'm worried about. I think I would like to be called it but I know there are people who wouldn't. I've got a really normal boring name though.

Aww gasp Smile

Surname is quite a strong one syllable name, not hill Grin

Fabulou - I love Posy!! Apparently that is even more twee though. I must just be a twee person Blush I think Primrose would be Posy for short!

AmysTiara · 17/08/2015 21:02

Yes but there's loads of people out there who don't like their name. Some have normal names, some unusual.

If you like it that's all that matters.

If you like it that's all that matters.

helentheheron · 17/08/2015 21:15

Its not to my taste but I don't think its "limiting" at all. My local MP is called Tulip..

fabuLou · 17/08/2015 21:17

Op, Primrose with nn Posey perfect.

KERALA1 · 17/08/2015 21:22

Tough one to carry off. She might be a strong little extrovert. But she might not...I wouldn't - not fair on the child.

We nearly called dd1 Lorelei (pregnancy madness) which is similarly quirky IMO so glad we didn't would have been totally wrong for her (self contained and bookish). I cringe when I think about it now.

littlejohnnydory · 17/08/2015 21:28

I don't like it - it's the "Prim" part. I'd go for Posy over Primrose for that reason.

Daphnedolittle · 17/08/2015 21:30

Is Posy perhaps easier to carry off?

OP posts:
Daphnedolittle · 17/08/2015 21:31

Little John - xposts! You read my mind!

I'm an introvert by the way, and being Primrose at school would have been a bit tough. But when I see the top 10 names now, Poppy is number 5! Names like that were unheard of when I was young.

My DM is a Primrose she hates it with a passion bordering on violence and will not use it

Rose is absolutely beautiful. Primrose....not so much. Posey is okay, but quite twee if that's what you're trying to avoid.

Wishful80smontage · 17/08/2015 21:39

I know a little girl whose middle name is primrose I really like it :) and Posy is nice too.

SoftSheen · 17/08/2015 21:40

Primrose is lovely Posy is dire, however
