I started a thread about Primrose, Daphne and Bluebell and most of you preferred Primrose.
So.... hit me with everything you think about this name.
Would it be easy to live with at school? Is it too twee? What's your favourite nickname?
Do you know any that like their names?

I'm actually quite a reserved person and not one to go for a 'whacky' name, I just really love it. Equally, I don't want to lumber my dd with a limiting name so want honest opinions, I can take it!

I still think Primrose to Posy is a tenuous link.

Just call her Posy - its a much nicer name anyway.

With regard to it being a tenuous stretch from Primrose to Posy.

Well if someone can enlighten me as to why Richard becomes Dick (amongst other examples) I might think it was a valid argument. Where does the extra B in Bob come from out of Robert?

The thing with nicknames is they can be tenuous. Nicknames often come about merely because the nicknamer thinks it suits. It can be daft. Nicknames do not have to be rational.

Afink, I yell "Primrose" quite a lot in the park (it's my dd's name). I feel no embarrassment, and I know she will definitely understand that I mean her, amongst all the Emilys and Amelias and Avas! I have to say, we did have a shortlist that included other less "marmite" names ready to choose from, but when we met her, we knew she would be able to handle it and it suited her (still does)
