I love Poppy Rae

Although I quite like Poppy, I do think it is a bit cutesy. It works for little girls but I don't think it transfers to adults very well.

I love the suggestion of Eilidh.

I would go for Eilidh Ramona, which I think is beautiful and unusual. (And could never be considered "chavvy" Wink )

marinacortina · 13/08/2015 12:20

I would choose Ramona as a first name, but clearly my taste is very fifferent from yours.

And I don't see why you couldn't give Ray as a middle name. No need to change the spelling. Lots of women have family middle names that aren't particularly feminine. And as it's a family name, you could give it to a boy as well, if you have a boy later on. It's fine to repeat family middle names.

Poppy Rae Hall is gorgeous. It just rolls of your tongue

Op just choose a name that you and your DH like.
There will not be a single name in the world that everyone will like. You just choose what you like. Poppy is a nice name, goes well with Olivia. Rae/Ray means something to you, so that's lovely. Even Isla is fine, and using Rae as a middle name. You'll generally call her Isla day to day. Rae will just be on documents. Her last name will be used more than her middle name. But honestly pick a name you and your DH like. Don't tell anyone. When baby arrives, announce her name, otherwise you'll get nowhere, there's always going to be people that won't like the names you choose. And that's ok, she's not their child.

What about Frederica Rae then you could still use nn Freddie Smile.

MadrigalElectromotive · 13/08/2015 15:16

What do you hope to achieve from this thread OP? It seems that you have decided on a name now, which some people will like, and some people won't.

Do you want other suggestions, or for people to pat you on the head and tell you "it is a lovely name hunni"?

emmalouise90 · 13/08/2015 15:22

This is what I mean rude people on this site any need? Shall I pat you on the head for the narky comment?

How do I close this thread?

Poppy is nice.

You need to report your original post to MNHQ and request they delete the thread, you can't just have it closed.

Not sure on what grounds they'd delete it though, a few people offering blunt opinions doesn't usually cut it.

You can also hide the thread if you don't wish to see further replies. That may well be your best course of action.

My grandads name is poppy ray

How...unusual!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/08/2015 18:15

You can't just close or delete a thread because you have had enough of it, that's not how mumsnet works

purplepandas · 13/08/2015 18:44

What was rude was saying that someone's name choice was 'chavvy'. That was rude.

NadiaWadia · 13/08/2015 19:28

Yes, and saying that posters were 'small minded' for pointed out that Isla Rae sounds like I.R.A. when you say it. Which it does, and they were just pointing that out.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/08/2015 21:15

Carla

I'm guessing Poppy is used instead of Grandad within the family and the man in question has the first name Ray.
