Is Isla really that popular? I had no idea. I don't know any Islas (and I am well versed in the world of the under-5s!, three different nurseries my children attend).

I loved Shannon (Isla Fisher) in Home & Away and as such considered Isla for my own future daughter, way back when. She's the only Isla I know.

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 20:56

What about Lilah instead of Isla? :/ I like poppy but OH says it's a pet name x

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 20:57

I only no one Isla and it's spelt iyla but seems it's popular else where x

Elsewhere like where? I live down South, there ain't no Islas here OP!

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 21:01

Really everyone else seems to say it's so popular :( anyone have any other suggestions to go with the middle name Rae ?

Loads of girls called Isla in London.

I know quite a few with the middle name Rae. It's fine, though maybe not with Isla.

I know an Imogen Rae and a Meredith Rae. They are quite nice?

Grin at IRA

Grin Grin at Isla White!

PHANTOMnamechanger · 07/08/2015 21:04

there are 3 Islas in our primary school of 300, in Kent. I've known 2 others when I was teaching 20 years ago! I like it.

hashtagwhatever · 07/08/2015 21:05

Delilah?

AyeAmarok · 07/08/2015 21:06

Islas are 10 a penny here (Scotland)

PHANTOMnamechanger · 07/08/2015 21:06

If you want to be a bit more unique, go for Eye-Lah Wink

ConcreteElephant · 07/08/2015 21:07

DD has an Isla in her class (infants). We're in Herts and I don't know any other Islas. I know a grown up Rae (short for Rachel) and I really like it. I agree that together there's an unfortunate similarity to IRA and a third name would remove that. Do you really want 3 names though?

charlyn · 07/08/2015 21:07

Its pretty but unfortunately I find it boring now as I know so many.. Its the most popular girls name for under 5s ive come across

gordonpym · 07/08/2015 21:10

Isla means island in Spanish

AngieBolen · 07/08/2015 21:11

Just as many Delilahs here as Islas.

If you like it, OP ignore everyone else.

Ile de Re would be a great place to be named after! Bet the OP hasn't been there though!

Finallyonboard · 07/08/2015 21:14

Isla is OK. Rae isn't my cup of tea

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 07/08/2015 21:16

OP- the ONS publish lists of baby names for England and Wales. 2013 is the most recent. 2014 is due out soon. In 2013 Isla was the 5th girls name. Very popular.

I agree not Isla Rae. It sounds like IRA. Or Isle of Ray. You do have to be careful with Isla.

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 21:18

I no now I am at square one and OH is going to be pissed off lol

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 21:19

I like Elsie after my great grandma but don't think he will like it also like poppy x

goingmadinthecountry · 07/08/2015 21:20

No way for Lilah. Please. Looks wrong. I've been to the Ile de Re a few times - very nice. I like Isla, and have no problem with having 3 names for children - all of my 4 have 3 names and have grown up without major issues.

emmalouise90 · 07/08/2015 21:20

Imogen was a choice I made with my first DD but decided against I do still like it tho I just want a pretty name my dd is Olivia grace so quite English and proper which I love so hard to get one to sound nice with Rae x

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 07/08/2015 21:22

Before I opened your thread I thought what a gorgeous name and it is but. Yes I see where the first poster was coming from it does sound like IRA.
Other suggestions. If you don't mind,
Isla Beth
Isla Grace
Isla Nicole
Isla Jade
Isla Jean
Isla Marie.

SnozzberryPie · 07/08/2015 21:22

Does it have to be rae? - isla Rachel sounds nicer to my ears

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 07/08/2015 21:22

Imogen Rae is nice.Smile I think you need a consonant at the end with Rae.
