What do you honestly think of the name Topsy?

Why

It's a great name for a tortoise!

Expecting DC2 and a friend suggested it. Husband loves it but I'm not convinced.

Definitely unusual, would raise eyebrows and IMO falls into the same camp as naming your child Elf or Twinkle.

I quite like it as a nickname,but not a serious, on the BC name. NN for what, I'm not sure.

I intensely dislike it.

It's really cute, but very risky. And probably prone to treading. Makes me think of MR Topsy Turvey from the Mr Men.
It's adorable for a cute kitten, However.

I love it! But then I adored Elfey for out DD but was shot down by DH who firmly put his foot down.

it is also the name of a character from Uncle Tom's Cabin.

It doesn't feel like a real name to me.

It does sound like a pet's name rather than a child. I might go for Tabitha and then use nn Topsy if I really liked that name.

How could anyone hate their child so much to give them the actual name Topsy? Assuming it isn't a nickname.

If you must, call her Topaz, nn Topsy.

Though my grandparents had a dog called Topaz once.
