Rocco?

I really like it. Have DS1 with unusual name which he loves. Just not too sure if too out there, we live in nice area with good schools where newborns all seem to be Harry, George, William, Edward etc!

Awful. I heard a toddler being called by this name during the week and my first reaction was "how awful, poor kid".

I like it. As long as you don't mind people assuming you have copied Madonna, or asking if you are Italian/Sicilian.

Love it, we have a couple of little Roccos and a Rio locally.

It makes me think of The Godfather, which is my favourite film, but not exactly stuffed with brilliant role models.

I think of the 90's cartoon Rocco's Modern Life. Not necessarily a bad connection but I hear the theme tune whenever I see the name.

Well clearly not popular on here (although its also Alex polizzis sons name) but we considered in for DS, but our kids have unusual names anyway and we're not the kind of people to give a stuff about what others think! That said we didn't choose it in the end - take from that what you will! If you like Italian style names what about Rafael/Raffa?

WTF don't use unless you are Italian... should we only choose British names...? I am British, my name is not. My son is half Spanish and has a Brazilian name.... Jeez best get out and change our names by deed poll quick!

Don't know if I'd use it but I do really like it. But then I prefer less common names and strongly dislike the royal names

Cactus yes i asked opinions - what I wondered was if the people who really dislike it have called their children names that I really dislike.... as was the case with one of the first posters.... just out of interest dearest

I don't think I could call a child Sunny in case they turned out to be anything but. It would be like calling a child Hercules only for him to grow up small and thin.

I think the point about not using Italian names if you're not Italian comes from people thinking Rocco Smith or Rocco Braithwaite would sound a bit odd. Rocco paired with a non-English surname would raise fewer eyebrows, but of course lots of people don't give a toss about the eyebrow-raising anyway, and why should they?

I wouldn't worry about the porn star, Rocco Siffredi is in his fifties so I doubt the kids in your son's class will have heard of him.

I think it's ok but it's also my cats name which colours my judgement a bit.
