Due a come-back, or not?

maybe, I know a woman who called her baby Kevin and all of her children have dated names.

I don't hate it tbh. I'm not Catholic but it's got a kind of solidity to it. Like Brendan. I prefer Brendan though.

Not yet! Next generation maybe. DD already has named her imaginary friends Kevin, Craig and Gary

Kevin, Dave, Stuart and Bob. Definitely due a comeback.

Not. Reminds me of that mechanic from Coronation street with the minge moustache. It's so dated, dull and ordinary. Like Barry or Gary.

I'm put off by names to, I refuse to date any Kevin's, Gavin's, Mark's or Stephen's as I associate the names to idiots! Lol!

I like both Kevin and Gary I think it'll be a while before they make a comeback though.

Already made a 'comeback', if you can call it that, considering it has been in the top 200 for a couple of decades at least.

Currently ranks at 177 and on the rise. Not my personal cup of tea, but nothing wrong with the name as far as anglicized names go.

I know a three guys called Kevin and they're all really nice! However, the name, for me, has rather chavvy 1980s overtones. So for me that would be a no. Ditto a lot of the other popular 70s/80s names. Its just too soon to see them all coming around again.

Kevin's been around a lot longer than the 70s and 80s. I know English Kevins who were born in the 50s and 60s.

Yep that would be right. Kevin entered the top 100 in the 1940s. It peaked in the 1960s actually, and 1950s, and then started to decline in the 70s and 80s. So it's more accurately a 50s/60s name in stats terms.

It's been in the top 200 consistently since then, as I mentioned already.

It was quite popular in France more recently, or at least I had that impression.

Not going to properly come back for a good while. I would only expect people to use if it they have a strong desire to name a boy after a family member for now.

I'm pleased we're starting to see the end of the Cath Kidston cutesy twee names! No offense to anyone, the names are very pretty, but it would be nice to see more variety.

It's good to see the less cutesy retro names coming along now, like Maud, Mildred, Vera.

Once they've been exhausted I'm hoping the 70s names will be back. I'm looking forward to baby Carols and Brians!
