Wanted: girls name. Must be fabulous.

Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Do tell. Please.

Ah, had a feeling you might say that, OP Grin But not being anywhere near any part of London, just had to check.

SylvaniansAtEase · 26/05/2015 18:24

Elaine's a Zone 5 name if ever I heard one.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 18:25

South London names have got a bit of spunk about them (for instance, I like Alex and Nikita) but they aren't right for me. Shame.

Has anyone said Astrid?

Someone suggested Cynthia a while back. It's really growing on me. Concerned about nn though.

Ingrid Miriam

spaghettina · 26/05/2015 18:39

Cynthia has south London associations though... Streatham to be precise

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 26/05/2015 18:43

'Fabulous' has a nice ring to it.

marshmallowpies · 26/05/2015 18:44

Etta's definitely South London, plus (as well as all the Evies and Esmes), May/Mae/Maya, Ava, Iris, Isla, Gracie. Mind you I also heard a girl being called Tracy in a South London park the other day.

I am secretly starting to quite like Tara - never thought I'd warm to it as I was bullied by a Tara at school, but I suddenly find myself liking it.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/05/2015 18:44

"Buryan (Pronounced Bree-Ann) after the good Cornish saint."

Just popping into this VERY good thread to say if you go to St Buryan ("buhree-an" or at a push, "berry-an" depending on your accent) and call it St Bree-Ann, people will laugh at you. A lot.

VivaLeBeaver · 26/05/2015 18:52

Audrey
Juliet
Harriet

SkodaLabia · 26/05/2015 18:54

I'll say it again because I think the OP may have missed it - in a sea of other names that are nowhere near as good - Gladys.

SkodaLabia · 26/05/2015 18:55

Have we done Evadne?

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 26/05/2015 18:59

My gran was Gladys. The other was Gertrude.

Dodged a bullet, me.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 19:02

Sadie is another good strong South London name.

OP posts:
MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 19:06

Gladys discounted by virtue of having 'Glad' at the start. Too puritan and also likely to be hilariously un-apt.

SylvaniansAtEase · 26/05/2015 19:06

Melanie is a good middle name to match your other M middle names.

SylvaniansAtEase · 26/05/2015 19:06

but then Valerie would be out!

SylvaniansAtEase · 26/05/2015 19:07

I note that no-one has even attempted to suggest Doreen.

MaureenMacnally · 26/05/2015 19:09

Weird to have an alliterative middle name theme?

(Melanie also South London, btw)
