wouldnt be my choice......seems a lot out there

Roobo · 11/05/2015 02:51

Are you a Housewives of Atlanta fan? That's the only Apollo I've ever heard of.

I like it.

peppercold · 11/05/2015 02:53

Apollo Creed.

genome · 11/05/2015 02:57

I thought of it for our second dc, but DH vetoed it. We had dd2 anyway so it didn't matter in the end!

IggyStrop · 11/05/2015 02:57

I quite like it too, but I like quite 'out there' names. I also think Apollo Creed.

KensingtonRose · 11/05/2015 02:58

Excellent concert venue, oh did you mean as a child's name?

genome · 11/05/2015 02:59

We were looking for Greek inspired names btw due to our family background and our dd2 is Athena, so we did stick with the idea!

mrscatmad31 · 11/05/2015 06:45

I love Apollo!

IWishIWishedLess · 11/05/2015 06:53

Hmm. I know some gods/goddesses names are or have been popular to use e.g. Diana but I have to say that Apollo wouldn't be my choice!

If you want something inspired by Greek mythology then Jason, Damon and Troy are quite nice.

For names that go with Belle, how about Christopher, James or Sebastien?

YorkieButtonsizeMen · 11/05/2015 07:01

No....sorry...sorry I really don't like it. Try saying it out loud, loudly, in a shop and see what happens, how you like it in that situation.

You obviously have a great imagination though Smile

SoupDragon · 11/05/2015 07:03

Tell your DH to introduce himself as Apollo whenever he meets new people and see how he feels about it.

Or get a pet.

JuniorMint · 11/05/2015 07:08

I believe Gwen Stefani has an Apollo

nooka · 11/05/2015 07:11

I think of Battlestar Galactaca. I don't think it's a very sensible name. I think it might be rather hard to carry off, before you really get serious with it do try Soupdragon's suggestion. If your dh gets no sniggers then perhaps you live in an area where wacky names are normal and your potential son will be fine, but to me it is a bit out there for a child.

getbusyliving · 11/05/2015 07:13

It has to be Augustus! A little boy born in August and a nn Gus how perfectSmile far nicer than Apollo which IMO is a made up try hard name, that makes me think of space missions and Rocky.Wink

getbusyliving · 11/05/2015 07:16

Iwish you can't really suggest Belle and Sabastien together ??

alteredimages · 11/05/2015 07:27

Sebastian Grin. I assume that was a joke Iwish. Right?

BitOutOfPractice · 11/05/2015 07:29

I think it is an utterly ludicrous choice of name. Sorry

AtiaoftheJulii · 11/05/2015 07:31

I know a young Apollo. I quite like it, but it's a big name for a small child! I also think you have to consider how it goes with your surname - e.g. Apollo Higginbotham doesn't work imo, but some might sound better.

Lol at the idea that it's a made-up name! Must be older than most Grin

Sausages123 · 11/05/2015 07:34

I really like it, but then I have ridden several lovely horses called Apollo

Hmmm2014 · 11/05/2015 07:37

Have to agree with Bitoutofpractice. If my DCs had a friend called Apollo, I would think "poor child".

getbusyliving · 11/05/2015 07:37

Attia Ok I know it's not made up, what I meant was its not really used as a boys name the same way you don't hear many Poseidon's running aroundWink

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/05/2015 07:48

I love it.

I wouldn't think 'poor child'. I'd think
'What a cool name'

IWishIWishedLess · 11/05/2015 09:11

Sebastien was a joke!

But I am serious about thinking that the name Apollo only works with some personalities and surnames. Personally, I wouldn't use it but there are worse names out there.

AndHarry · 11/05/2015 09:21

Friends of ours have an Apollo, usually known as Paul. It suits him and them.

twofingerstoGideon · 11/05/2015 09:22

Polly for short?
