I have a 1 year old daughter named Belle and she will have a little brother in August a name that keeps sticking on us is Apollo I like it as its different And id like to know your opinion.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DuncanQuagmire · 11/05/2015 09:23

Apollo = sounds like a dog or a pony tbh

Allthatnonsense · 11/05/2015 09:23

Lol at Apollo Higginbotham!

He would need to be a big strapping lad (poss rugby player) to carry it off. Might be a bit much for an intellectual.

ShadowFire · 11/05/2015 09:25

I think Apollo might be difficult to carry off.

juneau · 11/05/2015 09:27

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have an Apollo.

Personally, it makes me think of the space program in the 1960s.

getbusyliving · 11/05/2015 09:38

Andharry from Apollo to 'Paul' really? Makes you wonder why they bothered in the first placeGrin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/05/2015 09:40

Yes the rather bland Paul is nothing like the magnificent Apollo....

The only thing that might put me off is it may be shortened to Polly!

sweetpeame · 11/05/2015 10:18

It sounds awful, I really don't think a grown man called Apollo would be taken seriously. It's not even a name you can get away with for a small boy... Big fat no from me.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/05/2015 12:05

as long as it's twins Apollo and Zeus!Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 11/05/2015 12:51

If I met an Apollo in a business environment I would be very very wary

BikeRunSki · 11/05/2015 12:55

He'll have a blast

Floggingmolly · 11/05/2015 12:56

We had a dog called Apollo once...

Archer26 · 11/05/2015 12:57

Love it! Go for it. Thanks

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/05/2015 16:28

flogging

Floggingmolly · 11/05/2015 18:23
Grin
AndHarry · 11/05/2015 18:32

GetBusy I know! He's now 4-ish and Apollo is coming back into usage but it took me a while to work out that that was what he was called because he was called Paul so often.

MmeMorrible · 11/05/2015 18:35

My sister had a cat called Apollo - his nickname was Polly. Nice name for cat.

mandy214 · 11/05/2015 18:41

Really?

As I previous poster said, I would think "poor child". Then I would think the parents were wannabees. Sorry Blush. I know I sound like Katie Hopkins, but its awful. Sorry to be so blunt.

I also think it is ridiculous for a grown man.

BlueberryWafer · 11/05/2015 18:41

I always think of it this way, can you think of a newborn Apollo, a 3 year old Apollo, a teenaged Apollo, a business man Apollo, a retired Apollo and an elderly Apollo. If the answer is yes to all these questions then go for it.

lucyjordon · 11/05/2015 18:44

People will snigger behind your back

OttiliaVonBCup · 11/05/2015 19:14

And this is why I love baby names.

OP, no, please don't.

MagentaVitus · 11/05/2015 19:15

I really like it.

Doesn't a MNetter have twins called Artemis and Apollo? I think I saw a thread in Birth Announcements.

RedToothBrush · 11/05/2015 19:20

I love it.

that makes me think of space missions

This is not a bad thing

It is marmite though. You have to be brave to go with it.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/05/2015 20:50

I don't suggest Adonis, Narcissus, Atlas or Hercules either.

call him Gary

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/05/2015 20:53

Red

brave is one thing. It's not the parent who has to suffer the consequences of being called a daft name.
it's the kid.
why anyone do that to their own babies/children is beyond me

I like the suggestion of the father introducing himself as Apollo and see what happens
