Fair enough - not one that I had come across I guess.
But the point I was making is that anything can be a name if you decide to use it as a name.
You could call your child Table or Enlightenment if you wanted. You use it as a name, then it's a name.

countessmarkyabitch · 28/02/2015 16:20

Yep, if you use it as a name its a name. But its a bloody stupid one! prefer Table to Maiden Rose though

aoife24 · 28/02/2015 18:05

This is a wind up, no?

albertcampionscat · 28/02/2015 20:34

Sounds a bit like a naughty nurse name in a Carry On film.

reuset · 28/02/2015 23:14

Verdict? You're on a wind up!

Maiden Rose sounds very virginal and inappropriate

reuset · 28/02/2015 23:17

Where are you from that the 'name' Saylor is popular? Grin

Thesuperswimmingdolphin · 28/02/2015 23:28

Hilarious OP.

TallboyMcChesty · 28/02/2015 23:35

Howling at Allmimsy

aliasjoey · 28/02/2015 23:49

Rose and Rosebud were apparently also Victorian nicknames for virginity.

Seekingtheanswers · 01/03/2015 00:11

I think the OP is on the wind-up too.

Still, I have learnt something - I have never heard a clothes horse referred to as a maiden before!

SouthernComforts · 01/03/2015 00:16

Is it too late to rethink all your childrens names OP?

Pipbin · 01/03/2015 00:24

Hmmm. Op has only ever made two posts, both starting threads that were never returned to. She has also added Maiden to the baby name finder.

I see that since 2013 about 6 boys have been named Tyrion. Before Game of Thrones that wasn't a name, now it is.
Trilby used to be a girls name before it became a type of hat.

I have to say though that I don't really like 'made up names'.

virgo6 · 01/03/2015 15:54

im 31 and my name is sky thats whatt he first part meant sorry for the typo so sky was a name 30 years ago , well that went down badly hahha but then again when i named tiana - 14 years ago i got aload of abuse and then they names a disney princess that and everyone loves it

teaming it with rose i agree is too much
but i love maiden and i dont think of sex , i think it sounds simialr to aiden etc kind of theme

Well, it rhymes with Aidan but that is where any similarity ends. And pretty much every single person on this thread thinks of sex - extrapolate that out to the population at large that your child is going to come into contact with.

Calling your child Maiden is a cruel thing to do. It is not you who has to live with the name, your poor child does.

VixxFace · 01/03/2015 17:51

What is wrong with tianna and shyanne?

TinyMonkey · 01/03/2015 21:03

What's right with them? It's like a thread started by Katie Price.

Poor little blighters.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 01/03/2015 21:18

There's no point in criticising Tiana and Shyanne now though, is there? The OP's used them and would they really stand out that much in modern classrooms?
Maiden's different, the OP hasn't used it yet and it's NOT A NAME! OP, if you don't believe us, will you try something? Go out somewhere, introduce yourself to people as Maiden and see what reaction you get?

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 01/03/2015 21:27

I wouldn't use Chastity either but there are traditional " virtue" names (Faith, Hope, Charity, Verity etc) and I assume it's one.

Madeline would be lovely, OP.

coolaschmoola · 01/03/2015 21:29

As bad as it is it could get worse the older she gets....

Mrs Maiden? Contradiction in terms.

She marries Mr/Ms Head or Hood or Voyage....

Op this 'name' is an horrific thing to inflict on a child. You are essentially thinking of naming a child 'Virgin'. Do you WANT your child to have the piss taken out of her for the rest of her life?!

Seriously, get a grip.

LineRunner · 01/03/2015 21:32

Yes, Madeline is a great name.

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 01/03/2015 21:36

Madchen translates as girl, not maiden.

Pipbin · 01/03/2015 21:40

There used to be a removals company in Maidenhead called, yes you guessed it, Maidenhead Removals.

Marcipex · 01/03/2015 21:43

Maidlin is Old English form of Madeline. Maidlin Rose is nice.
